I want some book recommendations for fantasy and sci-fi books.

I've read a lot of Margaret Ogden (Robin Hobb), David Zindell , Ursula le Guin's Earthsea books, Trudi Canavan's Black Magician trilogy, also the Hobbit which I will always love as my first fantasy book, I've read the rest of Tolkien's books and that's all I can think of atm.

As you can tell I haven't read a lot of fantasy and less sci-fi,
any recommendations would be helpful.

Also others can feel free to use this topic to ask for their book recommendations, if they want to.

Lord Of The Rings + The Hobbit
As I've just said, I've already read them.

I'd rather have recommendations based on my list.
read them again

just to be useful, Read Nick Hornby, one of the greatest writers ever to walk the earth. That or Shakespeare.

I've read a ton of fantasy books here are my recommendations

The Dragonlance series, there are over 50 branches to the series but the main storyline is by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the first book is Dragons of Autumn Twilight

Next I would probably recommend The Maximum Ride series, there are 4 books starting with Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson, the first 3 books are the best but the 4th one really sucked.

Number 3 would probably be the Chronicles of Narnia, 7 books(I think) written by C.S. Lewis

Some other books and series' would be Halo series, Diablo series, World of Warcraft series, Warcraft series, Warcraft comic series, Eragon

And just to put this in here if you ever wanted a joke book get the Adult Only Joke Book, I don't know who it was written by. Sorry the post was so long...maybe I should'nt of space everything...

Hmmmm...

the best fantasy series that I've ever read is A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. The first book is A Game of Thrones. The characters are amazing, they're many different shades of gray rather than just black & white, good & evil. And NOBODY is safe - he kills off major characters left and right in every book.

A good sci-fi series that I just got into is the Culture series by Iain M. Banks. The book I read is called Consider Phlebas. The Culture is a utopian society controlled by benevolent A.I. computers. They are locked in a war with a race of religious zealots called the Idirans. Consider Phlebas is about a man named Horza, who is a Changer, a shapeshifter. He is also an agent of the Idirans, and is tasked with capturing an advanced, experimental culture A.I. that has gone into hiding on a remote planet. Very good story, a nice blend of exposition and action.

And I can second H.P. Lovecraft.

Gaunt's Ghosts has some good ole 40K goodness.
*Mental high five* Can't wait for Blood Pact.

Other than that If you like WH40K try:
Ciaphas Cain Hero Of The Imperium
Double Eagle
Eisenhorn

Some of the best WH40K books.

Other than that I agree whole heartedly with everyone who recommended the Discworld "Series", very good, interesting books.

Can't think of any more.

I would but it would mean I'd have to get on a plane to the US.

Seems a lot of people like the Discworld series I will have to check it out.

I found The Night Watch, The Day Watch and The Twilight Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko a very entertaining read, and The Last Watch (or Final Watch I think depending where you live) is released in a month or so I believe.
