I have the PSATs(big ass test that means absolutely nothing) coming up, and every time I take a test like this I have like an hour left to do nothing. So does anybody know of any good books I can get to pass the time?

Something on Theology or Philosophy would be nice, but it doesn't need to be.

EDIT: If its philosophical and boring don't bother mentioning it, last time I read a book of that type I never finished it, remember I am mainly looking for something fun to read.

Being a huge reader myself, I'll throw you several from a variety of genres.:

Black Hawk Down
Band of Brothers
Easy Company Solider
Mass Effect:Revelation
Mass Effect:Ascension
Perfect Dark:Initial Vector
Perfect Dark:Second Front
Love & Death:The Murder of Kurt Cobain
The Downsiders
The Shadow People
Uncle John's Bathroom Reader (there's over 30 different ones to choose from)
Klepto

If you want other suggestions, don't hesitate to ask. And good luck w/ the PSAT! Pretty sure I took that about a year or so ago (hard to remember. In any NYC public school you're going to end up taking *a lot* of mandatory test.) and indeed it's a boring waste of time.

Well if you want Philosophy then you could read Plutarch's Lives. It tells the stories of several great ancient Greek and Roman leaders and expands on the choices they made and speculates on why they might have made them. It is, however VEEEERY dry reading. Ancient Greek translated into 18th century English.

Well if you like philosophy.

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (Be prepared, it's boring)
The Stranger by Albert Camus (Extremley short)
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

That's all I've got.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett. "Like the book of Revelations as penned by Monty Python and the Flying Circus"
Don't forget that Neil Gaiman wrote that book too. I hear good things about it.

In New England we call these the NECAPS (New England Common Assesment Program), they mean pretty much nothing and are filled with unanswerable questions (no joke) and really badly worded questions not to decive you but to just annoy the living shit outa you.

Thanks, I couldn't remember his last name and didn't just want to say "Neil". I could've looked it up, but that wouldn't have taken work :)

No problem. Come to think of it, I forgot to recommend a book. I recommend Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys. It's funny, clever, and awesome at the same time. "God Is Dead. Meet The Kids."

For passing the time? I'd recommend Pillars of the Earth.

It's only, like, 1000+ pages.

The Reality Dysfunction by Peter F Hamilton is my current addiction.

I recommend it highly to any sci fi fans, it's like a cross between Mass Effect and Alien. Or something. With more philosophy.

Haters, by David Moody, it's a very good book. I always loved "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.
