I hope this site helps:

I'm new to the HP series myself; I know of him and his various works but never actually sat down to read any of them. From what I've read of one of his books on that site, he likes the proper psychological horror approach and uses a level of fear deeply instilled into the victims as opposed to any monsters immediately jumping out

HP novels? I can't, and never will be able, to associate that with anything other than Harry Potter.

I wouldnt recommend HP lovecraft stories generally, they're written in quite a monotonous way, with no real characters or dialogue.

However, I would strongly recommend you read his short story DAGON, its only 7 pages and gives you a brilliant sample of what you're getting into. And apart from anything else its just a cool little story. Read it in a bookshop, its great.

If you like that, either read 'At the mountains of madness' or 'the Call of Clthulhu'

Personally theyre the only ones ive read so far that ive liked.

Any lovecraft fans want to recommend me any more? I have a big collection titled 'The Necronomicon' made of fake leather and everything. It looks cool but I havent read much of it.
