Dune.

And I mean a good movie, not that piece of crap they called a movie.

Really did you see it? I could go into all kinds of details but I'll focus on the most retarded money waster, they made blue-in-blue eyes of spice addicts with cg. WTF is that? They could've just worn contact lenses.
Are you talking about the Sci-Fi channel movie or the David Lynch movie? Cause the 80s Dune fucking rocked the shit.

Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut would be an interesting choice, though I think it would be better suited to the big screen.

Also, The Stand by Stephen King would make an interesting RPG.
The Stand is getting a comic book and they already made a Slaughterhouse 5 movie, and it was very good.

I liked how they stuck with the book but it just seemed so amateurish, i know it takes a lot to make a movie but why bother if you think it could bring down the book, i keep picturing the characters as they showed them in that movie and it really took away from the book, for me atleast.

And when does colour of magic come out?

Harry turtledoves world war series.... turtledove is the king of alternative history, so having a game and or movie based off his books would be awsome!!

also should remake war of the worlds!

a) because any movie that has been made from it...has...been...crap...

b) the RTS game that came out years ago was great! think total war way b4 its time!!! but it didnt have multiplayer... that game would have been great multiplayer!!! so yeah remake of that game!

Birthright: The Book of Man by Wil McCarthy. It would be rather disjoined, but it was GOOD!

Shadows Fall by Simon Green

As a movie I could see it as a Guillermo del Toro film. All about different worlds and dead dreams. Every failed or forgotten idea, given life and deposited in a little town.

Not sure if it could translate into a game though. Half of it would be a point-click adventure game and the other half could be FPS.

The Cassandra Kresnov trilogy by Joel Shepard would make an excellent RPG/TPS hybrid. I hope he follows through on making a movie version, at least.

Does no one appreciate classic literature? Dante's Inferno would one of the best survival horror games to date. The only problem is getting all of the visuals right and you would have to add in some type of combat, as the book is written to be an adventure and not a "beat-em up."

Sure, the Silent Hill series touches on Dante's Inferno when the town transforms, but a true representation would be so much better.

I think that a book-to-game conversion, if done right, would scare the living crap out of people just because it takes a "believed to be true" place and gives it a face.. read the book some time.. graphic stuff for the time it was written.

You know what's funny? I was reading one of the books (I forget which one, maybe Pearls of Lutra) for the umpteenth time the other day, and I thought to myself, Hrmmm... if done right, this could be an interesting game!

Any one of the Discworld books. (again, would have to be done right)
Re-do Eragon, make a sequel out of Eldest, and a threequel of Brisingr.
The Artemis Fowl series. I'd love to see No.1's spell list (assuming he's playable...)

Artemis Fowl.now THAT would be an interesting game.could be a couple shooter/brawling levels as Butler...

but other than that.a list.

Terrier by Clamora pierce. they've made 5-0 games before, why not make a game 'bout the Dogs?

Pendragon by D.J. Machale.(movie,more than a game...)

The Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan.(game, movie)

Oh,almost everything writen by James Patterson. Alex Cross,Maximum Ride, season of the
machete,ETC.

and the Gray Griffin series.

ugh,i'll keep thinking of new ones whenever i get done typing.

most of the Ted Dekker novels,i suppose...

Hamlet: I actually rewrote the last act of Hamlet for a production and portrayed the action as if it were a 2D fighting game. To Be or Not 2! Now, imagine some of the potential combo attacks that could exist (Hamlet's "Skull of Yorick" Finisher would be awesome). In reality this play would play much better as a directed RPG / Adventure game.
Fucking. Brilliant.

I know its been said already, but Ender's Game. I know that Orson Scott Card has been contracted to write a screenplay, but I doubt if its still in production. Gamewise: both the war room as well as the simulated ship-to-ship combat could be done very well via RTS (minus reinforcements).

I personally think that a survival horror version of Michael Crichton's original Jurrassic park would rule as well as Shakepeare's Othello as a movie

It had a multiplayer mode, but it was unstable when the game was published, and apparently it was never finished. The menus did exist though, and could be enabled by a registry "cheat". The multiplayer mode was very similar to that of Conquest Earth, or to the WoW singleplayer mode, actually.
One player would play the Martian army, one the English army, and they would both play their respective campaign, only with human-controlled enemy units.

The Musical by Jeff Wayne was really good and is available on DVD, and according to the official homepage, a CGI WoW movie is being produced, using the songs from the musical version as soundtrack, with the Martian Machines looking like they looked in the game (which was also produced by Jeff Wayne), only with slight modifications.

Now thinking of it, almost every single H.G.Wells story I read so far would make a great movie, not just The Time Machine, The Invisible Man and The War Of The Worlds (Which was basically a logical and cooler version of Independence Day, probably due to the fact that Independence Day was just an uninspired adaptation of the book. Much like Matrix was a bad Tron Remake)

Back to Hogfather: I liked it. The acting wasn't perfect, but worked well with the story, and the Discworld as portrayed in the movie just felt right. Teatime and Susan were almost exactly like I imagined them (I thought Susan was taller, and the marks on her face were more obvious).

Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher, and of course the sequals. Most of the last third of the book is a huge battle between the Aleran legionaires and a Marat horde.

i want to see all the Terry Pratchett books as movies.

but i want to see Thief of Time made into a good game... they could call it Thief of Time: Chocolate Warfare

Edit: i also want to see Night Watch, Day Watch and Twilight Watch (by Sergei Lukyanenko) made into good movies that actually follow the plot of the books... then maybe a game

I saw some people here mention Redwall and personally, I think it would make a great MMORPG. Normal I don't play MMORPG's but I can see you being able to pick which races of Critter you wanna play as and have a large variety of classes (No magic classes, melee, archer and priest type classes) and different locations in the books will all be available as one big map. Can travel as far south as the Squirrels castle in 'The Bell Maker' and as far north, if not father then the settings in 'Martin the Warrior'

I can see it now it would be awesome.
