So we all know how shooter flooded the current market is, and I was wondering what game do you think really nailed that good feeling of shooting your enemies (or innocent civilians)? It might be a good idea to detail which element of the shooting was the most satisfying.

For me it would have to be Red Faction Guerrilla entirely because of the sound effect that happens when you shoot the armored EDF. That coupled with the nice vibrate of the controller and red flash around the crosshair if you hit an enemy makes shooting nearly everything feel extremely satisfying.

(I'm Hoping my wonderfully creative title doesn't prevent people from checking out this topic.)

Killzone 2 was pretty good. The weapons were nicely loud in it.

The GoW series, simply because nothing beats the squelch and wazz of chainsawing a man in half.

If I have to go with an actual shooting weapon, then Half Life two for one reason: Crossbow.

Yeah, GoW did have a certain satisfaction to it. I've only played the second one. But man, when I got that weapon that rains down the giant death beam onto enemies, I was giggling like a maniac. One of the best toys I ever got in a game.

DEFINITELY Killing Floor. That one game had enough feel of "power" in its guns for me to actually notice it. And that's not the "sway the hud everywhere and have over-the-top SFX" sort of power. Even the pistols have the nice satisfying crack, quick jolt, and the brass flying away that makes it feel satisfying. Plus the headshots are very nice, and offer a slow-motion glance at times.

GTA 4. Shooting people in the head with the weak pistol was incredibly satisfying, as was launching cops backwards in a barrage of shotgun blasts.
