Border Collies

[Tears of Blood]

I am thinking about getting myself a dog, and I am really interested in Border Collies. Not only are they very pretty dogs, but I need a dog that will keep me active and be a good, loyal companion. I've already contacted a breeder and hope they will get back to me soon.

So, has anyone here ever owned or know anyone who owns a Border Collie? Are there any insights that you want to give to me? Don't bother with stuff like "They need a job to do and lots of exericse." because I am well aware of that. I know they can be terrors if you don't occupy them. However, if you have any particular ideas about how to keep them occupied, I'd love to hear about it.

Also, traning tips might be nice. (Especially in the puppy stage...)

Maybe some stories would be cool too!

Neighbors used to have one and another old friend had one and they were both really nice, calm dogs. Thats about all I know thats not general dog raising stuff.

I used to have one, but it died. sob. tip? remember to comb the fur! they get knotted and matted real easy.

Border Collies are great but you've got to realise that they're mostly sheepdogs and as such need a LOT of exercise to keep them happy.
