Borderlands 2; Brand loyalty?

Do you find yourself favouring a particular brand of gun in Borderlands 2, for either a certain kind of weapon or all of them?

I've always thought the different brands of guns were a nice touch. It added something to the world, for one thing, the thought that essentially everything on Pandora was run by weapons companies. It made me feel more immersed.

The differences between companies grew even greater in borderlands 2, with some companies having special features for their guns, like growing more accurate with sustained fire, or being used as a grenade when reloaded.

Personally, I've ended up almost exclusively using Jakobs. I like the simplicity of it. No elemental effects, no special features, just a focus on power and being able to fire as fast as you please. That also made me favour Jakobs. I can slow down my shots with one of their assault rifles to get people far away, or speed them up when enemies close in, and nothing's better than blitzing an enemy with a volley of revolver fire as fast as you can possibly pull the trigger.

The look of their guns is also awesome, a kinda sci-fi-western look.

I downright refuse to use Sniper rifles made by anyone else. It just feels wrong, somehow.

If I'm using an assault rifle I generally go for Vladof or Torgue. Shame I hardly use Assault rifles.
Maliwan SMGs are always good though, and Hyperion shotguns are generally amazing, especially if they have an elemental.

I go different brands for different weapons. I love me some Jakobs revolvers and snipers. I like Maliwan smg for the elemental effects. I love Torgue assault rifles. That explosive damage is just ridiculous on them. The only shotgun I've enjoyed using is one that I got from Moxxi. I don't remember the manufacturer.

Repeater: I typically use the high RoF machine pistols here, so I love those dual drum Bandit magazines.

SMG: Maliwan. My personal favorite weapon class for setting people on fire or melting them with acid.

Shotgun: Torgue. Reminds me of the explosive shells power-up for the shotgun in Duke Nukem 3D. Makes me smile.

Combat Rifle: Vladof. A Vladof assault rifle with minigun barrels and a large magazine is a hell of a lot of fun to use for suppression fire.

Sniper Rifle: Jakobs. I don't want to need more than one bullet.

Rocket Launcher: Torgue. "Deals bonus explosive damage."

In the first game I had a lot of brand loyalty to Hyperion. On my Siren (my main character) I always kept a Hyperion Stinger SMG around for long-range shooting... and I usually ended up using it even more frequently than my elemental Maliwan SMGs because I just loved the feel of it. I rarely use Hyperion in BL2 though. I hate that I have to spend half of my magazine hitting pretty much nothing before the accuracy ramps up to tolerable levels. I also tend to avoid Tediore since I'm the kind of person who reloads frequently, which would mean tons of wasted ammunition. I also don't particularly care for Dahl, especially when using sniper rifles, since I'd rather tap-fire an automatic weapon to make it semi-automatic than deal with a wasteful burst fire.

I have no personal preference in gun maker myself.

However, there is ONE gun maker I HATE above all others, and that is Dahl, their burst fire when zoomed crap is so annoying.

I think my vote goes towards the Bandits. Sure, most of their weapons are ludicrously inefficient, but if they make something good, it's damn good.

Plus, Bandit rocket launchers are unquestionably awesome. Three rockets at a time. Who doesn't think that's nothing short of amazing?

Rifles: Vladolf
Rocket launcher: Tediore (throwing a launcher is the funniest damn thing ever)
Shotgun: Tediore or Torque
smg: Dahl or Maliwan
Pistols: Jacobs or Maliwan
Snipers: Jacobs or Maliwan

Depends on which character I'm playing! I much enjoy Torque for my Commando and Maliwan for the Siren, I basically only use those makes on my two characters of those classes. The assassin is a bit more varied, currently it's only Dahl weapons though. That tends to change as I find other better guns. I'd much prefer Bandit weapons for my Commando to be honest, but I can't ever seem to find any truly good ones... Only blue one I've seen is the one I got from Capt. Flynt!

This [http://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg639/Playful-Pony/dobbymoloko_zpsa0f76f29.jpg] is my favorite rifle so-far though

I was born a Jakobs man and I'll die a Jakobs man goddamn it! Though I've begun to indulge myself in Vladof and Dahl sniper rifles.

Gotta' go with Hyperion, simply because I have a ridiculously OP pistol that most enemies in a few seconds.
Hell, I used that one pistol alone and beat the final boss without losing ANY health. My shield got knocked a few times but nothing serious.
If you're interested, it does about 3k per shot, with about 2k acid DPS DoT.

Nah, I just use the most effective.

That isn't just the most powerful, if it does a fuck load of damage but has 3 shots and highly inaccurate then I wont use it.

I started off not using AR's at all and just using SMG's with the odd shotgun, now I am all about the AR's and never use SMG's, with the odd smattering of shotgun and against huge tanky enemies I use my 61K, 6 shot, electric rocket launcher!

I have little brand loyalty except for each weapon type.

Pistols: Vladof ideally. Though I have a sexy Jakobs revolver right now. Oh and a Maliwan Elegant Dart which, true to its name, uses tracer darts to home in on the enemy with a nasty electric shock.
SMGS: Strongly prefer Maliwan due to obvious benefits of elemental ammo.
Rifles: Vladof spinigun if I do use them.
Sniper: Vladof or Dahl, I just need an effective autosniper.
Shotguns: Hyperion... best shotguns at range, and mine has fire ammo.
RPG: Tediore, repeatedly proven itself the best with its disposable launchers. I have a legendary Bonus Bunny. That adds up to about 5 extra rockets.

I'm noticing a trend here. Certain manufacturers are great for certain guns. For example most people use Jakobs snipers because they're high powered and you want a sniper that kills in one shot.
I go
Sniper/pistol: Jakobs
Shotgun: Torque/Tediore
SMG: Maliwan
Rifle :(
Rockets: Dont use 'em.

Also, does anyone know what brand makes a standard automatic rifle? I started out with something called the "gearbox rifle" which was like an AK47 type of thing, but now it seems like every assault rifle is either single shot or has to spin up like a minigun.

Well, now that I've had a chance to play with some of the guns in Borderlands 2:

Sniper Rifles: Most definitely Jakobs or Maliwan. Lately, all Jakobs though. I hate going against enemies that are immune or resistant to certain elements, and I usually end up getting Fire weapons. A good, Corrosive Sniper? Oh, I'd go for that. And really, I love the Maliwan look.

SMG's: Maliwan or Bandit. Bandit in a pinch if it isn't elemental, but usually Maliwan. I've been using a Maliwan Hellfire for the longest time, and I love that thing! The only reason I upgraded was the abundance of loaders, and because the SMG I upgraded to, does Corrosive Damage.

Assault Rifles: Bandit. The large magazines are mainly why, though I may want to look into Jakobs or Vladof. Who knows. I might do better that way.

Shotguns: Bandit as well, though apparently Hyperion shotguns are supposed to be pretty good. I don't know, I suppose I'll have to see.

Pistols: Always go Jakobs. They fire quick, happen to be powerful, and the revolvers I've had so far, were pretty damn accurate, as long as I was aiming properly and not firing like crazy.

RPGs: I want to use more Maliwan launchers, but so far, its been Tediore. They do essentially give you an extra round on the reload.

However, I absolutely refuse to use either Dahl, Hyperion, or Tediore for just about everything, save launchers in Tediores case. I just do not like their gimmicks.

I like to keep a good mix of weapons but will almost always have at least one maliwan and one jakobs.

After that I fill out the rest based on what I'm lacking at the moment I acquire a new prospect for upgrading my gun loadout.

And no I will not exclude a gun from consideration based on the brand.

*in thick Russian accent* My commando is clad in Vladof colors while using Vladof rifle. It reminds enemies of impending Soviet punishment

I unintentionally tend to use the same brand of weapons for the differnt guns:

Pistol: Jakobs, Maliwan, Teidore
Shotgun: Torgue, and Hyperion(although the only Hyperion shotgun i used was the incendiary one i got from Moxxi, that thing kicked ass!)
AR: Dahl, Vladof, Jakobs (i can never seem to find an automatic AR that does good damage)
Sniper rifle: Hyperion, Jakobs
SMG: almost always Maliwan and sometimes a Teidore
Rocket Launcher: I hardly ever use them so i just tend to go for the one that does the most damage

Does anyone know if the guns you find in loot chests and vendors are set towards which class you pick?
Cause i play as Zer0 and i always find revolvers and sniper rifles instead of the assault rifles i looking for.
