Borderlands 2 Bumps Up the Level Cap Again

Borderlands 2's latest volley of DLC begins with another boost to the level cap and a challenging new dungeon.

In the year since the initial launch of Borderlands 2, Gearbox has released four story expansions, two additional playable characters, an increase to the level cap, and a slew of minor DLC packs. Apparently that isn't enough, because the developer is about to gearing up to release a second "Ultimate Vault Hunter" pack to pave the way for even more end-game content. The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak Challenge adds another 11 levels of potential (increasing the maximum level to 72 if you own the first upgrade pack), as well as unlocking a handful of new features for only the most powerful of Vault Hunters.

Aside from the level cap increase, players who buy UVHUP2:DPC will be able to access a high-level mission, the Raid on Digistruct Peak. The new dungeon features a semi-random line-up of enemies, and is designed for a full party of four max-level players. If that isn't hard enough for you, you can also unlock eight "Overpower" levels to buff up enemies and drop loot far beyond your puny Level 72 gear.

This new DLC isn't part of the Season Pass, so you'll have to shell out $4.99 to get the goods. Gearbox also announced plans for three "Headhunter" DLC packs to follow this one. Each of those packs will be built around a challenging new boss, whose head you can unlock for character customization once you defeat it. The first Headhunter DLC will be the Halloween-themed TK Baha's Bloody Harvest, due in October.

I thought everyone was complaining about how the game was brokenly easy with the higher level cap. I don't remember anything about them fixing that issue.

Funny, I remember that too. I guess they figured out how to fix things. I don't see it but I am only level 52 and can't even get to Sanctuary on UVHM.

What the f*&% is the point of having the 'season pass' if you don't get ALL OF THE DLC EVER FOREVER?

If you buy season 5 of Family Guy, do you get upset that you didn't get any episodes from season 6?

That's why it's called a SEASON pass and not a LIFETIME pass. They sell the pass with a certain number of items in mind and once they release those, it's back to charging more. A second season pass would be nice, just to save some money.

So is TK Baha still a zombie? That's what I'm getting out of this, instead of watching Gearbox's insistence that raising the level cap was impossible continue to crumble.

Is it just me, or was I the only one who was happy with the level cap NOT being raised? I felt awesome when I hit 50 but then they raised it to a level I'm sure as hell never going to reach on my own possibly not even with friends. Friggen legendary vault hunter mode...

Um... You you know what season means? You got the first season of DLC, they stated it clearly you would get the first 4 packs of DLC from it. They were quite clear.

Nooooooooo thank you.
Build diversity is already shot, the "break the game" thing is very true, GB just went ahead with it anyway to make all the people who wanted it happy, and UVHM is still a joke.

I'm actually very happy about them straight out saying the Digistruct Peak thing is designed for four players.
Excellent, now I know I'm not missing out on anything by skipping it.

Oh god. I can only imagine how long it'd take to kill a high level monster now.

After the first level cap I played it again to get a feel for it, and got pwned by some of the first mobs you see on the new level of play. My character has good weapons as well and it felt like they just weren't doing any damage at all. Which is the major problem with this game. Even standard mobs take far too long to kill unless you have literally the best weapons available to you, because this game is balanced around having 4 people play at once, simply having it scaled down for 1 person.

It is scaled down really poorly.

Totally stoked for this, my fuzzy lil' wuvvy Krieg is already pretty mental. 11 more points will let me 5/5 some stuff thats still 3/5 or 4/5 now though, which will mean MORE EXPLOSIONS WHOOOOO.

My buddy will probably end up hating his Siren even more though, heh.

I stopped playing BL2 about a month after it came out. I enjoyed it for a bit, but my biggest worry was that it was going to just be more of the same and I had already had my fill with playing the first game to death.

I do remember thinking that - at least with the Siren - she would be OP as all hell if you could get all the abilities in more than one tree. I went on to assume that's what they were talking about when they said raising the level cap would break the game. Sooooo I'm guessing the way they made things harder was just by making it so that things that used to hit like a truck now hit like a howitzer and things that used to take a million bullets to kill now take a billion?

When they advertised the pass, they made it clear what people would be getting, which was all of the main, big, DLC's and that level cap thing. Besides, season doesn't mean forever, it means season.

Also!
Yay? I guess? At least it's optional, not everybody wants to get to level 72. I might pick this up, since not much can really stop Krieg anyway.

Sweet, I'll be waiting for that GOTY edition they were harping on about coming out in October, save myself some money.
They've already announced that this DLC and the Headhunters packs won't be in the GOTY edition.

Well i got the season pass, but this really doesn't interest me, at this point all i want is to purchase the DLC that unlocks the new classes, because that atleast sounds like a new way to play the game instead of you know...extending it
