Stylistically, yes. But if that's the case, Top 40 artists would be in an eternal lawsuit with each other...
There is a zig zaged looking ridge below Boba Fett, it's copied exactly to the BL2 insert art.

Isn't there a well-known quote, something like "Good artists copy, brilliant artists steal"? I swear I've heard it many times before..

So it looks like something good came from something bad that came from something good.

Good show.

The middle-bits with the zig-zag lines is where it's been copied.

Out of curiousity, is there a character in Borderlands 2 that would fit the silhouette created by the skyline in the same manner as the Empire Strikes Back box art resembles the character of Boba Fett?

Good on both of them. Though the first thing I thought of when it said "so... consequences." was that were going to make the artist who copied the picture "disappear" if you will.

What are the odds we see Olly doing concept art for the next Gearbox game? I think this could be the accidental beginning of a beautiful thing.

OK, the artist was fine with it and 2K decided that they were in the wrong despite him saying he didn't mind?

It seems like opposite day. I have to say this is actually quite nice. I wish every dispute could have been handled this smoothly.

I like how the title is incredibly inflammatory, yet the artist is cool and gearbox apologises and promises to rectify the situation. I was expecting a nuclear shitstorm, yet get flowers and butterflies.

This is exactly how copywrite infringement SHOULD go. A mistake that doesn't seem blatently malicious is made, the injured party lets it know he is dissapointed, the offending party mans up and behaves professionally in order to make amends. Everyone is happy in the end. Props to everyone involved. Except the guy who lifted the work. I don't know the details, but something does have to happen to him.

What a mature way to handle this. Guy is awesome in my book for not throwing a huge fit over this and good on Gearbox for owning up to it.

See? We don't need to yell at each other to get things done.

We need more people like those involved here in this world, cool chill guys who can fix shit without so much goddamn commotion and collateral damage.

So many other people woulda started some big fuss and sued someone, and gotten some smear all over the press and all sorts of other ugly stuff, but what we have here is the artist who got some of his work jacked being totally chill about it, because this kinda stuff happens all the time, and if you start a fuss all that happens is you stress yourself and other people out, and make everything worse.
And the head of the company acknowledged that they were in the wrong, and they're handling it, most likely going to punish the lazy ass person involved in the lift in the first place, I mean does it hurt to take the time to ask for permission?

So yeah I give props to all sides of this, except that lazy bastard who wouldn't take what little time it would have taken to see about permission for the art bein used.

I don't like Gearbox much, and I admit, as an artist, I'd feel pretty pissed if someone used my ideas without consent.
