I'm about an hour through the game and I already have some pretty descent weapons. All of them do 30+ damage but whenever I come across descent enemy it seems like all of my bullets are doing +1 damage. It takes me ages to get past a single grouping of enemies because it is so hard to do damage to them. Just one room with 3 shielded enemies and 2 nonshielded enemies took ALL of my ammo from all 5 classes of guns I had. I'm playing as brick and I assumed there would be parts I could juggernaut through but it's not happening. All of my damage goes +1 (+3 for a headshot) on them but they hit me once and my 82 hit point shield drops to 0. Is my game glitching or is this how it really is? I need to know now because I'm about to sell it because I hate the game because of this problem. All my time and money goes into ammo searches because of how impossible it is to kill anyone.

P.S. I'm only as far as I am because I used only my sniper rifle which literally killed every enemy so far in the game. The first pseudo boss took roughly 33 head shots to kill with a sniper rifle.

Sounds to me like you're just fighting monsters that are of a higher level then you. It can be easy, especially at the start, to explore into areas you shouldn't be, and wind up fighting level 10 guys even though you're only level 3 or 4. When that happens, you wind up only abel to cause 1 damage each shot, while they can HAMMER you and kill you quite easily.

As a general rule, stick to the areas your mission way point guides you too. it's a lot safer and things become much more manageable.

/thread. This guy says exactly what I was going to.
Agreed. I am quoting you a lot recently aren't I?

Also, Brick is terrible to play as. Be either Mordecai or Lilith if you want a superhuman when you reach lvl 40.

Borderlands is not an FPS, although I really thought it was one when I got it. I am sad now, since I have the same problem and can't really enjoy the game :(

Basing the performance on some stupid level system instead of playing skills is retarded!

Aww, I'm just glad to be a part of the quote train!

About the level scheme in Borderlands, it's really not that noticeable as long as you stick to the missions as you get them. It levels you right along, so you don't have to worry about grinding levels, like you would in a more traditional RPG. As far as FPS's go, it's a good cross of FPS with RPG.

I have the same problem with Borderlands, in fact I wasn't going to play it but my boyfriend encouraged my to see it through to level ten. At level ten it's much more fun but it's a grind to get there. I'm still getting distracted by other games in the mean time because Borderlands isn't that much fun. I feel like every enemy has better stuff than me no matter who they are, maybe my shield is defective?

I guess that has more to do with the gangs that are full of balanced members bruisers, melee psychos, and generic guys. So maybe we're having less fun because we are playing alone, away from the other three characters? That's so sad.

Also, OP, make sure you take advantage of you Action Skill when you get it. Berserk is your friend.

I would venture to guess that you first discovered this when you went to fight Bone Head for the first time. When I encountered him playing alone he kicked the crap out of me mercilessly and numberous times. Then i started playing exclusively with a friend. The game became much more fun as of that point. Borderlands is designed to play with at least one other person. To not do so it putting yourself at a disadvantage. I would strongly suggest playing with a friend to maximize your enjoyment.

Although your frusteration will increase as you fight over the good loot. We just keep it good natured and say whoever gets to it first gets it, and once its picked up no bitchin.

Don't remember if you said what system your playing for, but hopefully its the PS3 so you won't have to pay for the multiplayer. (I am not insulting 360 btw I have both and pay for live gold, just in this guys interest if he doesn't normally play multiplayer it would benefit him in borderlands to give it a go.

I dare you to walk into a room of D&D players and say that.

I like leveling up myself, it's nice to not just start out a badass simply because I play too many FPS's. I have to earn skill.

Probobaly just your level.. personally i like grinding levels, grind it way past the level you should be at and then the game is so fun :D

just go online join a game were people are much higer level, you will get a message saying you are to far back in the story line to play. However it does not kick you from the game. You can pretty much sit back and waycj you level go up

I killed Skagzilla with a freind at level 10 online (he was 13) took ages but sooo fun

Have you bought any clip upgrades from the ammo machine, that could be the simple solution; your running out of ammo because you have a small clip size for the amount of enemies your facing.

What do you mean it's not an FPS? You can't deny that, it's pure fact. It's also an RPG with a level system, which you would know if you did even a tiny bit of research into the game. Name me one RPG that allows you to destroy enemies way higher than your level. Skill does count in Borderlands, it just means less when you're fighting enemies too powerful for you.

There's your problem - Brick plays up close, with shotguns and rocket launchers. If you want to use a Sniper Rifle, go for Mordecai.

Also, Nine-Toes is piss easy with Brick, just go Berserk and he'll die. Like a dog.

Thisthisthisthisthis!

Also, isn't a headshot (at least on a humanoid) still a headshot in borderlands?

I'm only doing missions. These are the monsters I'm killing as part of the opening missions. And I know Brick is a close up fighter but that style only brings swift death.... and I mean SWIFT death. I usually die before I can ever punch anyone when I used his special.

Borderlands is largely designed to be multi-player, and yet it has some of the most ridiculously broken online play ever. The game felt largely unfocused, and the RPG bits weren't quite as well balanced as, say, an RPG. So don't worry about it - it just sounds like Borderlands isn't your cup of tea.

It'll multiply the damage, but not kill them.

Now I'm confused... I can't really play out any scenario in which this makes sense. I never had this problem...

Can't you have an easier difficulty perhaps? Or start new game and change class.
