I've have been playing Gearbox and 2K's Borderlands for over a year now. In this time period I've seen eras of modded weapons pass and go. From the origional mods that made you not invinicible but nearly so to the current mods that make you a cross of god and a modern warfare 2 obsessive. I feel that these are ruining gameplay due to the players being invinicble. Online the trade of modded weapons and shields make players without them seem left out. Also, shields are annoying. Some have literally infinite power and regeneration. Here is my example: There is a shield known as the Rose Omega, its power is literally 2,450,000 and recharges instantly. Guns are even worse. There are guns called "Stock Guns" that have damage of over 500,000 and can nearly one-shot kill even the most powerful boss. Does anyone else feel that the game is dying due to players' obession with power?

So, for a game with 40 hours of gameplay (maybe a bit more) I'm still not sure how people can play 'for a year'. Or how it 'can die'. I mean, as far as I can tell people just mine for guns by killing crawmerax over and over again. What enjoyment were you getting out of it, that is somehow tarnished by the actions of people you don't even have to play with?
