If you think Playthrough 2 of Borderlands is tough, wait until you finish it and go chest-hunting. Once you finish that playthrough all of the enemies are re-adjusted to L50-51 and they are very tough.

I'm currently DLing it right now, but from what I've seen, I wish there were less generic FPSs and more with the RPG element that I've seen in Borderlands

Apparently Mass Effect was kind of like that. My friend played through it like 3 times with the same character. Apparently the enemies level with you, making it harder, even though your level is higher.

Another in the long list of things Borderlands does fantastically.

Love this game so much.

I'm doing playthrough one again with Brick and I'm finding it way tougher than I did with Roland...

In the Shock Crystal cave, at level 15, I came across a skag den with six alphas, a badass fire skag and a badass shock skag...

At level 15????

Maybe the levelling AI crapped out or something.

That was some tough shit.
Same here. I actually used berserk to run away, for a lot of that cave.
Berserk is the best class skill by far... once you start exploding enemies with your fists the game gets a whole new level of fun. (though the framerate dips during the shock punches aren't really that fun...)

I got lucky and got a second wind from the last Alpha Scag in that cave, so death was avoided!

You can go up two levels in no time by grinding in that cave for a few minutes. It's insane.

I never found the second play through any harder than the first. It simply maintained the difficulty curve I had experienced the entire game.

Generally speaking the game did become easier as you progressed. If you raised the difficulty level, the enemies were potentially more lethal but the thing you notice mostly is that it takes a hell of a pounding to chew through their shields and absurdly long health bar.

I see New Game + most often with RPGs, and I have to say that I like the difficulty being scaled down considerably. I play the first time through an RPG for both the challenge and the story. My second time through (probably a few months later), I just want to see the story again. It's like reading a good book for me at that point.

I know I can beat the game, and even enjoy doing it the first time around. I rarely go back to do the achievements things, or unlock the uber-abilities (if it didn't come up in the normal game). I'd love to play through FFXII again, but I'm so leery of the grind-fest that I don't want to.

Chrono-Trigger was probably the best game for this (in my mind). Going back through a second time, not only do you get to do more stuff, fix mistakes, and play through the "normal" plot again, you also can get a bunch of different endings.

Psssh, corrosive all the way. It means that you can get a big string of hit and run damages.

There are plenty of games that give you a much tougher second play through.
Take, for example the Castlevania series (A series I consider to be one of the best in existence). The game becomes remarkably more difficult when you play through a second time, even if you keep your weapons and spells.

Or, for that matter, I Wanna Be The Guy. This is just ebcause the game is impossible on normal playthrough.
