Gah! I'm sure everyone else who played Borderlands knows what I'm talking about. However, I'm late to the party, so here goes.
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT ENDING!? Seriously! All the buildup for THAT!? A FUCKING SPACE VAGINA?! I took it down in three minutes of sustained SMG fire at its chest. And then the Guardian Angel turns into a satellite? And then ClapTrap goes interplanetary robot ninja assassin? And cut to credits. No guns, piss poor reward, barely any experience, and nothing left to do on Pandora.

Granted, I haven't played through the DLC yet, but that is a fucking ridiculous anti climax.

Yeah, I think Gearbox is trollin'.

Can you think of a superior ending? I could not- the Vault has been built up the whole game. There's no way that anything could live up to the expectations.

With so many people being surprised by this ending I'm starting to think I was the only one who expected Pandora's Vault to contain something unpleasant.

LOLOLOLOL.

I didn't care. Because thats not what the game was about to me. For me, the game was about my 3 cohorts and the multitude of skags and raiders we killed. Me with Mordecai/revolvers, Aaron with Lilith/SMG's, frank with Brick/shotguns and gary with Roland/Assault rifles. (we shared snipers and nobody ever found a rocket launcher that did shit).

I really could care less about anything else.

Yeah i know what you mean i cant even play that game anymore because of that ending. I hold the record amongst my friends for killing the boss the fastest. 2 SECONDS. I jumped, emptied my shotgun and the boss died. Then the crap ending, my sister said i was just being a baby about it but it was so very disappointing.

The end is a classic example of preparing to unleash a hail of DLCs.
The latest DLC, Claptraps Robot Revolution actually continues the story.

It is just the lack of reward. Space Squid is one thing, but a measly two hundred thousand dollar reward for killing it? I wanted some guns!

20 hours of DLC played and I still haven't gotten a gun that outclasses the Hellfire SMG I found at level 38 :(

They are good fun though. And good value. With better climaxes.

Here's how it should have ended. The vault opens and you find a note that says Duke Nukem Forever has been pushed back to 2013. Now thats an ending.

The ending wasn't the worst part, it was the random people who stole all the good loot while playing online.

That ending was one of the most horrifying things I have ever seen in a video game. It's not that the Vault failed to deliver loot or that something bad came out. That is not my problem. The problem is they spent the entire length of the game building suspense over the contents of the vault- long past the point of boredom- only to end the game without revealing anything interesting at all about the Vault or Pandora or anything else to justify the suspense. It seems like only some major crisis during development could have forced them to release the game in that state.

Sorry. I just remember how let down I felt when I saw the ending and thought "WTF?! How could they have let this happen?!"

Like many have said, anyone who wasn't expecting some great evil to come out of Pandora's box is just plain stupid.

That said, for a much more interesting final sequence, play the Secret Armory DLC. Adds a ton of new levels, locations, and baddies, and the ending is (without spoiling anything) a vault shopping spree.

The boss fight was very anti-climactic. I didn't expect a huge vault of treasure or anything, but come on...giant space vagina, barely does anything scary. And THAT is a supposed destroyer of worlds? Yes I am sure the Atlas space fleets couldn't do anything about that. OR we could have just, you know, not opened the vault in the first place.

For great guns it's much easier to game the system in new haven :)

There's 5 chests in town(including 2 red high-end ones), no enemies or obstacles (other than jumping around), just loot them, teleport and repeat ad nauseam until you get the guns you want.

...kinda broke the game for me though.

Oh, and yeah the ending sucked.

I will forgive the ending completely if they make a sequel, which they almost definately will sometime.

Personally, I love when a game goes towards the comedic side rather than the serious, but I'd rather Borderlands 2 goes the other way.

To me the Brothers in Arms series was one of the most grim, realistic and well told game series ever made.

If Gearbox sort of did that sort of serious dark stuff with Borderlands, I think it would be awesome.

Its just I've personally had enough of the jokes, even if they are pretty awesome.
