Wow...just...wow.

I complained that the zombie island dlc was way too easy, although i still enjoyed it. But The Underdone is BRUTAL. I consider myself a pretty good Borderlands player and the friends that I usually play with are pretty good as well (all level 50s) and we loaded this up on day one and it took us three hours to beat just hellburbia. Now today it took us about as long to do angelic ruins which seemed like it should be harder than hellburbia cuz the level has less cover but it really wasn't.

Anyways...haven't even tried the last one yet but from what i understand you have to beat these same arenas AGAIN and they get even HARDER. Wow...i enjoy a challenge but...

I would really like it, however, if when you lose you started at the beginning of the round you lost in rather than making you beat the previous round again...that just gets redundant. I mean, start the waves over but keep it the same round at least.

Also, for the record, the vampire modifier is cheap and is pretty much instant fail unless you are on the horde wave since otherwise there's just not enough stuff to kill fast enough to keep your health up.

Any thoughts or other general ranting?

(to be clear, i do like the dlc and the challenge level, but i just had to vent about how hard it actually is!)

I got Borderlands on the PC, so I don't have this yet, but I'm anxious. Is it good? Or is it basically just an expanded version of the two arena missions in the main game?

- J

EDIT: And also, I want to second the guy what the hell on not having Live. I keep hearing this and I'm not sure I understand. How do you not have Live? Is it that hard to run a network cable over to the system?

It costs money.

That is all.

I have yet to beat Borderlands. After I kill the god damned Destroyer, I'll get back to you.

Wow. I was planning on skipping the Underdome because I thought that without a raise in the level cap, it wouldn't be worth my time, but if it's really that difficult with a maxed out team, I might just give it a shot for the sheer fun of it.

The new DLC is quite brilliant, I'd say.

The difficulty in it is just unbelievable, you CANNOT do it alone.

My only complaint is that the rewards for doing the first three domes are severely lacking, as enemy weapon drops and expierience are disable (so no proficiency levelling either), and you only get about 15 seconds to grab 5/6 pickups between rounds.

Lastly the vampire mod is not too bad I find if you have a character with Stat (Soldier) or Cauterize (Soldier) as they nulify the effects.

My PS3 doesn't have online, (so no DLC) but I have played it at a friend's place and it is awesome.

that guy is easy,
I really don't understand why people complain about him/it being hard, it's a poor excuse for a
"epic battle"

OT: The Underdome on the other hand, now that's a challenge, I beat Hellburbia, which was hard, and awesome

so yes, I am glad it's this hard, gets me more hours for my money
(although I do wish the arena would spawn some better guns)

it is basically an expansion of those arena missions but it is a GOOD expansion, the arenas are MUCH bigger with very varied environments (they're not just flat ground like the others) and they have the modifiers and the different enemy waves and plus they are just very hard and fun.

i will agree that the reward for completing each area and even the overall quests is lacking. They give you exp for completing the quests (not for killing enemies though) but it's almost mandatory you be 50 already to do the underdome in the first place so that is useless. The VERY sparse item drops have been nothing good so far either.

It is worth getting though if you're looking for a level 50 challenge.

I'll probably pick it up along with Zombie Island when I finish the main quest.

When I see something too hard I just whip out my MODDED WEAPONS and destroy shit. Yes, I do have normal ones that I use, but fuck the last boss's they are WAY easier with mods. I play on 360 BTW

Its hard, if you get Close combat (Accuracy goes to shit, even with snipers)or Naked (No shields) on a badass wave you are DOOMED.

Also high enemy speed on a horde wave is damn hard.

I hear this all the time, and I sometimes wonder if anyone bothered to understand the myterious device that their parents hooked up for them.

XBox Live *Gold* costs $50 a year. True.

XBox Live *Silver*, which is all you'd need for this product, and a billion other products, and game demos, and other awesome options, is free and always has been. I can totally see folks not using Gold, but Silver? Really?

That's why i got a PS3, because i'm just can't be bothered to pay for Live and i really don't give a damn whether it has: better online capabilities, easier to find friends, better achievements, more games, etc. etc. etc.

See, now don't go pulling the console war card, or I'll trounce you by playing to the lowest common denominator and saying, "Well I own all three consoles and a good PC because I'm a real gamer who can manage my money well enough to be able to afford nice things from time to time."

And then we get into a long flame war about whether multiple consoles are really needed to experience a gaming generation and the whole thread spins out of control when really, all we're here to talk about is Borderlands Underdome DLC.

And no one wants that.

i agree, i don't think it matters what system you own in this case (except ps3 since i don't think it's out yet for ps3).

You're correct. PS3 gets it on the 7th, I think. PC, on the other hand, had no stated release date last I checked. That's how they handled the Zombie Island release as well, so I think I'll have to keep checking in with the XBox crowd to find out how any new DLC is.

i really hate that the pc has been getting shafted on a lot of dlc releases recently. it alienates the pc crowd and at times, even effects my decision on whether i get a game for pc or my 360.

i'm really glad dragon age has been getting concurrent release dates as 360 but i think that's just because it was/is a pc game first and foremost.

i wish borderlands would follow suit and get pc/xbox dlcs out at the same time (ps3 always seems to get the eternal shaft when it comes to dlcs so i won't even mention them)
