This one is a bit odd.

Have you ever played a great game so much for so long that you suddenly find yourself just kind of bored with it? I know, it sounds redundant, almost imposible; but it happens.

For me, this has happened with a number of games. CoD MW, Starcraft, Portal, and Bioshock.
Each of these are utterly fantastic games that provided hour upon hour of entertainment and challenge.
But as I said, I've suddenly become bored.
This is probably due to the fact that they are the only games I brought with me to college this semester (I'll be sure to fix that after Christmas).

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what was the game? And are there any games that might be imune to this?

Red Dead Redemption is such a game. Haven't played it for a while now, once I'd completed all the challenges and finished the story it was just boring. Nothing to do.

Nothing's immune to this sensation. If any game was we'd probably just keep playing that and never buy anything else.

Do anything long enough and you will become bored. Too much of the same.

wow it happened to me with those same games along with oblivion and fallout three among others. i believe that they are great for 1 or 2 replays but not much use after that. you should still keep them though.

Never happened to me, but I saw something similar happen to a friend's boyfriend.

The guy played Counterstrike. A lot of Counterstrike. It came to be that whenever I happened to watch him play, not only would he look like he was simply going through the motions, but he'd get more and more angry the longer he played, to the point where eventually he'd just rage quit.

And yet, he kept doing it. Beats the hell out of me. If a game starts affecting me negatively, I simply stop playing, or play something else.

Oblivion for me. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I logged in 700+ hours in one character alone, and now I'm completely bored with it. I had fun while I could and I got my money's worth at least tenfold, but I just don't get anymore enjoyment from it.

Yeah, but, for me, it just takes a very long time for me to get bored. I mean, I just ranked Kessen as one of the games I beat the most over the years, so, yeah, I have an awful lot of patience when I really love a game.

In fact, I think that's the only way I ever put a great game down. I won't get over it until I finally find everything there is to find and get bored with it. Hmm. That must be how I finally broke my Oblivion addiction.
