What game series would you say has the most consistently brilliant boss battles. I'd vouch for the God of War series. To name a few of the series best bosses, every single boss in the first one, the Collosus of Rhodes, the Barbarian King, Perseus, the Sisters of Fate, Posiedon, Hades and the absolute pinnacle of the series, Cronos. What series do you think delivered the best bosses.

Uhhh... It's not a series but World of Warcraft. While some bosses are simple, the more complex raid bosses are quite brilliant.

Devil may cry.

not only are they awesome, you will most likely die on you're first attempt aswell.
or multiple times.

DMC3 it's first boss killed me over 5 times before i put the difficulty to easy.
you need to understand the bosses to beat them.

*i'm the boss whisperer*

ofcoure it's easy once you realise when the bosses attack and with what.

I've always found boss battles fairly anti-climactic. Most of the time they're basically regular enemies with several billion HP, which is frankly boring.
I guess that I don't play that many games with actual bosses in. But the Legend of Zelda always has a couple of interesting bosses to face off against (the kind where you can only hurt them in a particular way)

EDIT: Oh, and 'You have to burn the rope'. That boss battle (you know the one I'm talking about) was epic!

I know that they aren't really boss fights but I would say all big monsters in monster hunter (which is most of them) you will often be destroyed on your first try at one and even when you've killed one like 20 times and you know all it's moves one wrong move and your in for a world of hurt.

It's got to be Zelda. easily. The "Hands" boss that you had to beat with arrows was amazing :D

Shadow of the Colossus easily.

Zelda is a close second, but nothing is as epic as Shadow for boss fights.

Genuinely hard bosses for me would be the last boss on the Matrix path of neo on hard mode. Awesomeness it is, once you stop dying. Any boss in a non-realistic activision game = quicksave/ quickload/ quicksave/ quickload/ quicksave.

Activision have made some fun games, but they are all aneurysm inducing.

I have always been a fan of Kingdom Hearts bosses. Only way to beat them is to figure out their attack patterns, anticipate their moves and learn when to block, dodge, run, or go in for the attack.

Gotta agree with this. The boss fights in raids in WoTLK so far have been really great. The ICC boss fights are the best yet (Though I haven't downed the Lich King yet his fight looks absolutely epic)...makes me pretty excited for the Cataclysm boss fights.
