You are complaining you only just got every console of this gen? Wow, most people stick with one and you are complaining you only "just" got them all.

You don't have to buy all the consoles, progress shouldn't be held back because you cannot manage your money effectively.
To try to rebut you (in vain), I didn't *just* get all three consoles on Christmas. I got the Xbox in 2008 and the Wii in 2007 or 2008 (I have shitty memory). Second: I know I don't have to buy (or in this case get my dad to buy) all the consoles in every generation but it's hard to not want all of them if there's an exclusive game for each console that I want to play.

As for the "Quit bitching" part, I'll admit that my comment seemed like I was, but I seriously thought that it wouldn't be until another 2 years before they came out with the next generation of consoles. It simply shocked me that now with new consoles on the horizon, game developers would start to make bigger and better games that are exclusive to these consoles which, in turn, will make me salivate more than I ever had and constantly wonder should I buy it or not.

Also, as a teenager, I want to be with people talking about the newest things that come out, and seeing that games and some music is one of the few things I have in common with the others, I have to get new games and consoles to even remotely know what I'm talking about. Sorry but I realized that my last sentence is completely idiotic and blaming the fact that I'm a teenager just to justify the need of said consoles and games is absolutely not appropriate just because I have poor communication skills.

It's definitely overdue. I recently read an article (not sure where) that predicts that if consoles don't get their shit together soon, mobile phones will be more powerful devices. They're already more powerful than the PS2, and at the rate they're advancing, they'll be better than the PS3 soon enough. It's because new phones come out all the time, but consoles have remained the same for the past 5 years or so. If they don't release a new generation of consoles soon, they'll be surpassed by devices that can fit in the palm of your hand. Get your shit together, consoles, and I don't mean better graphics, damn it!

Not sure if it was your intention, but your explanations comes off as a tad condescending. Just saying.
Possibly but I tend to write for all potential readers in public messages. It can be a confusing habit for others at times.

I am well aware of the "complexity" in rendering detailed CG imagery. In real-time or otherwise. All I was saying in my previous post was that rendering highly detailed CG video in real-time is possible. The cameras used on the set of Avatar did just that. It's just that rendering such imagery with a level of detail even a quarter as detailed as was seen in the final cut of Avatar is impossible. (with todays tech)
Thing is that the initial quote/claim (quoted claim?) was 'avatar calibre graphics', which you have agreed is impossible, not 'highly detailed'... sure, there are a lot of computers that can do real time 'highly detailed' (obviously varies by your definition) rendering but they are in no way capable of producing anything near the same results as something like the final cut of Avatar in real time. The tech to do so might be available in future but it's not here now nor will it be in the immediate future.

I'll stop here before I trigger mass suicide by going on about Graphics Vs Visuals.

In before people saying it's too soon.

It's not, if anything it's overdue.

The PC platform is suffering because of it (having to lower graphics in games in order to make it cross platform), and Console gaming is suffering from having to make graphical sacrifices in order to push dated hardware to keep a consistent graphical push, such as 720p only support, lack of anti aliasing, lower res shadows, and the game playing in thirty frames, rather than sixty.

Not wanting a new systems because of financial reasons is irrelevant, you can't stop progress at the end of the day.
you do know graphics aren't really that important to the over all game right? cause to be honest I'd rather they sacrificed graphics if it means the rest of it may not suck.

which they won't, it'll be all about the graphics again cause people are easy to fool like that.
so rejoice!! you'll get your pretty but empty cash in games.
Dude, I frekin love you, in a purely platonic way of course.

I really hope that the new updates, aren't purely towards improving the hardware and software used in the kinect, and the same with the PS Move. I think that as a console gamer, I'm slowly losing interest and considering turning to PC gaming, simply because it's factual that the PC is clearly the more capable gaming system.

I don't want another new console, I'm finally getting used to the 360 and getting a good game collection. Why do they screw with us like this? Looks like I may be going PC permanently.

I look forward to seeing what happens, I wouldn't get one straight away (just like going from PS2-3) as I am happy with my PS3. Plus, the price will be way too crippling to start off with; as soon as good titles come out and there's good deals/price drop, I'm in.

They really need to bolster the RAM on the machines to a min of 1 GB maybe 2 to be save. Put in some new 23 NM processors and they should be game. Also maybe allow for SSD harddrives?
Well.... sounds like you are willing to spend quite a lot....

SSDs? holy crap...

A single ssd of the same size as an hdd in a console costs AS MUCH AS THE CONSOLE.
Okay... maybe slightly less. Add to that more ram, new processors...
I really wish companies would stop developing FASTER ssds and start to make CHEAPER ssds so that they can actually be put to use practically.
SSDs have fallen 50% in price in the last 1 year and 3 months and gotten about twice as fast.

I normally don't take this stance, but the "the consoles low specs are holding PC games back" argument is just retarded. As much as I hate the game, I have yet to see any PC exclusive titles that compare to stuff like FF13 or Battlefield as far as graphical quality. Also, it tells me that PC gamers are the reason we have games sacrificing gameplay and originality for graphics if that's all they care about. You're part of the problem PC gamers.

The consoles themselves mean nothing. The value of a console lies in the games that it supports. As of now, we know of zero games for either, we don't even know if the machines exist. And, chances are, if the new consoles are announced, it'll be another 2-3 years MINIMUM before they come out, so there's no reason to worry about cost now. You have years to save your pennies. Start pinching.

Speaking of games, these days I get more enjoyment out of new additions to my PS2 or PSP libraries than my PS3. Xbox360 isn't even a blip on the radar as I am not a broshooterbro and I can count the 360 exclusives I actually want on 1 hand.

Meh, it isn't too soon but I honestly can't really see how they'll be able to wow anybody but the most hardcore into buying these things, sure the games will look better, load faster and have a few new capabilities but I'd be surprised if they came up with anything that really made people, other than hardcore fans, absolutely have to have these on launch day for full price. I'm really just not sure what they'll be able to do without another gigantic leap forward in tech.
Its an easy thing to make a ton of people want to buy a new console. All you have to do is have Call of Duty come out only on the next generation consoles.
So sad...and yet so very true.

I think I'll skip out this time. I don't think I've been happy with any console game in some time. I'll just stick with indie games on the PC. Many promising games are comming up.

While via the number of years both systems have been out, seems like it is high time for a new system -- I think both of them are releasing some great games and have a lot more to give. I don't need a new system right now (or even a year from now).

Guess we'll see what happens at E3 if they do announce/reveal and from there *when* these things are supposed to be on the market.

I can't wait! We're seeing games smash headfirst into the technical limitations of this generation of consoles, so it just feels like the right time to upgrade. And if you spend a decent but not ridiculous amount of money on a gaming-ready PC today you'll have something that's already a full generation ahead of the PS3 or XBox 360.

I'm fairly certain there will be good backwards compatibility this time around too. This generation has been incredibly expensive to produce games for, and the game developers and publishers will want to continue getting their investments back.

PS4 will not be at E3 2012. The new Xbox may still be shown.

Kaz has said multiple times that the PS3 has a ten year cycle and they will NOT be showing the PS4 at E3 this year.

Dammit. I just wish that we could get a homogenized console someday.
You could just buy a computer. You can get a truly excellent computer for $800, and it'll last you longer than any console.

Yes I know. My laptop is where I do most of my gaming anyways. But I still wish for the day where I could play Killzone and Gears of War on the same machine as Dawn of War.
