Got a box in the mail today, and what happens to greet my eyes?

A DVD box set of seasons 1-9 of the X-Files! Hell yeah. Picked it up new on Ebay for 110$!. The gods of good deals were most definitely shining upon me that day.

And that's about it. I just had to share my good fortunes with fellow geeks.

Well and I guess to get that whole "interaction" thing going, what was the best deal you ever got on a rare/hard-to-find/expensive item?

I got $110 dollars for a few seasons of the X-files I fished out of the main sewer line in sydney. Man, I wouldn't want to be touching any of that for prolonged periods of time.

My bro gave me a copy of the PM5K album "Anyone for Doomsday" before he left for the navy.

at the time it was a $30 cd that's incredibly difficult to find and isn't sold in any retail music store.

Erm... I mean, good for you, and such.
Haha, you know I debated that. Then I saw the only DVD quality torrent was 68gigs, to which I promptly spit out my orange juice and sputtered "Yeah fuckin' right!"

Besides...piracy is...bad...and stuff.

Grimlock Mighty Mugg...I know its really not that rare compared to somethings...But they only made a limited amount and I saw it in one store...Not WalMart, or Target, or any of those...It was a local comic book shop...Saw it through the window and marched in there and got there only one...Can't even find them on the manufacturer site anymore...I was overjoyed...

Whoever created the free super saver shipping on Amazon.com is a great man. As long as you arent looking to get anything quickly it is great. You can completely get away with not paying for shipping and handling.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance!

Anyways, I found a really rare CD that was going for $75 on ebay on some other site for $5. It was a good day.

Well it certainly wasn't rare, hard-to-find, or expensive, but I'm still quite proud of the fact that I bought Red Orchestra off Steam for $5. The deal wasn't surprising considering its age, but it's still a great game and I've put tons of hours into it. Definitely the best $5 I've ever spent.

Got an awesome old leather jacket for 8 dollars the other day, in a rural op-shop. Best 8 dollars ever spent.

Got the boxed set of Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Death Note (Comes in 2 sets in this case,) and End of Evangelion all for under $120.

The running price for all of those are averaged out at around $200-250, depending on where you shopped.

I got a really damn good deal on my TV; a 32in widescreen plasma, and all the goodies, from t'internets for £270, plus p&p (£30-ish I think), which I think is pretty good, considering that I saw something very similar for around £600 a while back.

I got given a copy of TV Go Home (Charlie Brooker) a few years ago, mines still in mint condition and it now appears that they're quite rare.....and selling for £50!

A few more years in a plastic cover and I could have a real earner :))

I found an amazing deal on the first four seasons of The Wire (the fifth wasn't out yet) with each DVD set for $19.99 Australian. I actually had to ask the cashier if she was serious. I couldn't believe it.

$499.99 Home Theater system was mislabeled for $_99.99, and most stores have a policy where you pay the sticker price, and this one was one of them. Or finding an internet sale that was said to have lasted for a whole year, because the expiration date was entered wrong. Or the $59.99 HDMI cables that were on sale on amazon for $0.01. I ordered 10, paid ten cents, and 8.95 for the Shipping, and sold them to friends and family for a superb discount of $5 a pop. 'Twas a good day.

My PS3, I should think. I didn't have to pay $500. Hell, wasn't even $400.

It was a sale at my local Gamestop. Trade in 2 select games, get $40 off a game. All I did was trade in some Wii games I do not play anymore, that would only be worth $15 normally, and got 2 great games.
Very nice. I'll have to let Gamestop preach to me about their deals, then, see if I can get something to rival that.

I just picked up the entire Stargate SG-1 series for $100, that was quite fabulous.
Score! I must have spent three times that, getting the slim version box sets over the years.
