The TakeOver 2 comes out this year in 2026! I was not expecting this!
Hmm. Looks pretty good, but the Takeover was one of those brawlers that started off good and just ended up going for too long and trying to do too much, especially since if I recall correctly, it didn't have save points. But this does look cool, hopefully they learned lessons from the first.

That's only on hard mode. Otherwise you could select the stage you've beaten or got to recenly, if you quit on Normal or Easy.

The pacing actually wasn't too bad. It drags a little, but i've seen so much worse. They did change up the pace enough for not to get too monotonous.

I tend not to like stage selection, the only arcade style game I've done it with was Zero Ranger since I decided I was winning it and spending an hour going through the game when failing at the last challenge meant you had to rebuild your continues... well, I got tired of it.

In TakeOver, you can get extra lives, and you have unlimited continues on Easy and Normal. On Hard, you get 0 continues and once you lose all your lives, it's automatic game over.

I played the demo, and it is already a huge improvement over the first game, which is already good. There's actual weapon variety. Combos now have wall bouncing. You can kick enemies when they're on the ground. Right now there is only one selectable character, and it's Ethan, but clearly these move sets have been expanded. The same will apply for either a new demo when they have the other characters, or when the game actually comes out.

My main problem with the first game was the lack of weapon variety, and not really integrating any combos into it. The melee weapons weren't worth it. I noticed combo juggling is not as strict either. That said, the game is much tougher for the right reasons. The demo boss can't be button mashed. You can juggle him, but you have to hit him with a specific item, after he does a certain attack to open him up. It's a decent gimmick, but I really hope not all the bosses function like this. I doubt they'll go that far with it though.

BTW @Worgen, the game does have a parry button and it is awesome! The game does encourage its usage, and one of the bosses you fight in the demo is a hidden parry tutorial. Do a perfect parry, and you can open an opponent up for a juggle.

Also played this one too

I think Mecha Legends has better pacing and structure, but Ryn definitely does have better combat. Mecha Legends' enemies are just too passive and line-up way too easily towards you. Not all a threat as they recycle the same patterns, and it feels very mashy. Ryn definitely has better enemies who maneuver and circle around you, though the Metroid Vania Structure is kinda wack and the platforming segments are just... well they're not good.

I've been going through Rushing Beat Shura. This is usually called the best game in the original trilogy on super nintendo, and one of the better console exclusive brawlers. I definitely been enjoying it more now. That I get a handle the combat. But I still don't like one of the characters and how they play. It's kind of redundant to have two mighty glaciers. When one plays worse than the other, and the better glacier has a run and dash attack, while the other doesn't any dash mechanics at all. With a way worse jump.
I will praise this game for having multiple paths, and you can alter storylines based on how many people you saved or not, for specific characters. The bosses are still a mixed bag and are not that fun to fight or you're better off just spamming your special attack.Because you'll almost always outlast them. A lot of them are really overpowered or are just pallet swaps of the enemies. You are already fighting and giving some minor alterations or modified dodge and attack patterns. I know that can be a staple in most brawlers, but it's really obvious here. It just makes me wish I would be fighting the bosses in the second game again. There were fewer of them, but they were much more unique, and have easier attack patterns where you're not just spamming your special all the time.

I've already beaten the game before and just did so recently, but I'm doing another play through taking the paths I didn't take before. Shura I do find better than the whole Final Fight trilogy on super nintendo, RB1, and Sonic Blast Man. I still like rushing beat ran a bit more, but sure has much more polished combat and some hidden mechanics. It's still suffers a problem of most super nintendo brawlers that limit the enemy count 3. You a think by being this late in the console's life cycle that this issue will be fixed, but only very few were able to make it past this limit on the system.

After playing these games from back to back, I still say Dobule Dragon Revive is better than Rushing Beat X, but both are good games. RBX is more so decent, and has some kinks to work out, but how juggling and combo cancelling work, is freaking immaculate. That is something it does have a bit mover Revive. So far, these are two most fun modern 3D brawlers to have come out and sets them apart from a lot of the pixel brawlers out now. RBX does have a better art style than Revive, but Revive's I don't find bad. A little under cooked in some areas, but not bad.

8 man is a pretty dope side scrolling brawler on the Neo-Geo, gotta play this some more. Had some pretty neat ideas, as well as an interesting Character moveset.
