My friend invited me to an Airsoft party, and I'm as new to Airsoft as a newborn is as new to sunlight. I know close to nothing about it, but I need to buy a good, reliable Airsoft gun for around $100 USD.

I know I need a pistol, googles, a primary weapon, and magazines.

Can anyone give me any recommendations for a good brand, good guns, magazines, googles, and a good flashlight attachment, and anything else I should know before delving into the world of plastic projectiles?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, I was doing some independent research and found this gun:

http://www.airsplat.com/Itemdesc.asp?ic=ER%2DXL%2DAK47%2D0507&eq=&Tp=

If it's a good gun, all I need now are magazines, goggles, ammo, and a flashlight.

Me and a group of friends got into Airsoft.

And I'll tell you right now: $100 won't cut it if you want something dependable. Especially if you want extra mags and gear to go with it.

Echo is a decent brand, but it's price range is more of the $175-$250 range.

Classic Army is one of the best, but that's WAY expensive. We're talking easily $500-$1K.

If you're just curious, try to borrow a gun from a friend. If it's something you think you will really get into, go for an Echo.

And for the love of Thor DO NOT BUY GUNS ONLINE!!!

Why? My JG HK416 arrived fine with all the trimmings, Don't be scared of the Chinese brands, especially at this price range. My gun cost £75, and it's not let me down yet, just be sure to check the power rating.

It's a night party, but I could just grab a flashlight from home and duct tape it to my gun.
I did this, it works.

I only have experience with paintball, but I feel like pistol is not that necessary.
Same here. I messed around with Airsoft a few years ago when I couldnt afford to play as much paintball as I wanted to. Me and some friends got some cheap (around 30 USD) guns from airsplatt.com (or something to that effect. I dont remember.) The pistol is not necessary, because all it does is make you look cool (hard-core, if you will). As far as mags go, I got a 75% scale M4, and it came with two mags that held around 100 bbs. They both operated differently, but if worked for me. This is the limit of my experience, but all of my friend's guns came with one or two mags of around that capacity.
