Immediately thought of David Gemmell as soon as I saw this thread. He was great & I absolutely loved his "Troy" series.
Kind of surprised no-one else said him but maybe just no-one reads the kind of books I do?

This, a thousand times this! Douglas Adams is a god and he died way to soon.

Have we all said Douglas Adams enough? No, we have not. And doggone it, he admitted that he needed to add one more book to the Hitchhiker's series. Mostly Harmless was written during a down period in his life, and he wanted to write a more upbeat ending.
