I just can't shake off the feelings some movies, books, games or even plastic figurines for that matter just exist because a company tried to get a quick buck out of a succesful franchise.

Which/What product(s) are/is, according to you, just a quick attempt to gain cold hard cash? And while we're at it, when and how did you realise?

Well... pretty much every second advertisement on TV is milking for cash. I just went and saw the movie Megamind, and at the start they had the Megamind character in a McDonalds commercial:

This sort of embarrassing and shameless product placement shits me to tears.

DLC for games.

We've already bought your game at a premium price, why are we paying for things THAT ARE ALREADY ON THE DISK!!!!!! Additional content that was created AFTER that game was finished I can understand, but charging us 2.50 for a skin or a gun is just ridiculous.

I realised it was a cold grab for cash when Activision started doing it :p

The key thing to remember is that this is not and has never been a new thing. As long as franchises have existed so has milking. People forget that sometimes.

Regardless, Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Unless it manages to regain what made the original so great (ie more Jack Sparrow and less plot) I see it only as an attempt to rip cash from our pockets.
