Just sayin' most of this thread is leaning towards metal, but in reality there's all kinds of rock out there. So for the sake of variety...

To those who say rock is dying, it's not. It's just ever-evolving and branching. Nothing is 'just' rock anymore, except for songs built on nostalgia.

And now for some good old rock

I hope those links work. I've never posted a youtube video before.

There's plenty of ballsy 80s-style rocking stuff made recently, but not much of it is outside of a metal sound or framework. For I consider these 'ballsy' and rocky but they do it partly by adopting a heaviness borrowed from heavy metal.

Having balls in rock isn't about being 'heavy' in a burly and long-haired way, but rather a Hendrix-like ability to not give a f*ck and just doing what you want to musically, like they did back in the 60s and 70s. Not much of that recently, perhaps this:

That's not really rock, that's more like heavy metal...
If you like stuff like that, try these songs

The fell version of this one is actually a lot better but the music video is just so cool I had to post it.
Actually, Lordi is hard rock and is know for their lavish stage shows. Just watch this:
However, their biggest achievement is winning Eurovision 2006 for Finland.

Who said anything about "groundbreaking"? Sure that's nice. But I'd prefer if there was something, even if it's one small thing, that was uniquely the artist's. Adele, for example. I don't need to shell out 200 bucks to see her at a stadium. I go to any jazz lounge and boom, there's an Adele and I've got front row seats.
ahhhh...ok I think I get what your saying there...and yeah when I think about I tend to go for stuff that seems less.."generic" to me
