Stab nr. 2.
/*If you are easily offended by criticism, ignore this block of text*/
People will -always- whine about something or other. If the situation was in reverse(i.e default = female), we'd be in the exact same spot. Reiteration: people will always whine about something or other.
And yes, this quite frankly is whining if you declare you won't play a game because of one or a few features being absent/wonky/present, even though the rest of the game is as solid as a diamond(example: Psychonauts) and in truth you might actually enjoy the damn thing if you stopped being such a self-entitled brat.
Hell, I didn't think I'd enjoy Syberia since I wasn't too into adventure games at the time(I tended to avoid them), but ohmygod, I gave it a try and lurv'd it. Syberia. /heartsign;

As for Brink - I applaud Splash Damages decision to focus within their limited timespace. Take into consideration that their movement system, while nothing completely new in concept, did obviously take a large chunk of their development time to implement properly + getting the framework for their character customization in(I've been following Brink for years now and it has changed a fair deal since I first found out about it...obviously). I refer you to STALKER, again. Namely Shadow of Chernobyl. It got lucky since their publisher let them delay the game a lot, but they did leave several things out because it just took them too long to work on the A.I and then bring the graphics engine up to date.
One of my points is that there's games that try to do a lot and the gameplay and/or story ends up being pretty mediocre(or just bad). It's a new feature + quantity/quality argument here, not to mention a market based choice since let's face it, the truth of the matter is that male gamers do outnumber female ones currently and a company will in most cases take the safe option. Sure, this male-female ratio is changing and will change more as time goes, but there's an saying: old habits die hard. It will take time for things to adapt and as technology gets more advanced, things will become easier and quicker to implement(I hope, at least).
I guess what I'm trying to say is through this long, long, long, long, long series of sentences is give it a chance and hopefully let it surprise you. Don't deny yourself a possibility of a great experience because you're dissatisfied with a single or some features. I suggest you just find a friend who has it and play it via them(unless it gets a demo). If you like it, great! If you don't, then nothing was lost. You're only slapping yourself in the face by turning your nose up and huffing at the product.
NOTE: The above does not apply to jumping into a bag of poo, hoping it's instead a bag of half-molten chocolate.
