To paraphrase comedian Earthquake "Women are crazy. If a guy with $400 million can't keep them happy, than a brother with $100 aint got a chance."

Personally, I'd be more than happy to go back to my mansion, probably redonculously awesome gaming setup, number 1 in UK and number 4 in the world tennis player lifestyle, while she's getting her panties in a bunch over something pretty trivial.

At least his girlfriend didn't assault him with a tennis racket like another well known athlete.

Look! It's the first news ever about Modern Warfare 2 that's made me laugh!

I doubt MW2 broke up their relationship. This was probably a long time coming, and a time killer like MW2 just sealed the deal. Nice to know I'm not the only one who had women issues as a result of this damn game.
I agree; if the lifestyle and money didn't keep her, then she actually wanted HIM and not his cash. Props to her, but he's 22 years old, and I doubt that when they met that he wasn't playing videogames. She likely considers videogames to be a time-waster, and since he can do other things, why is he wasting time?

He didn't do anything wrong, but she assumed something that wasn't true. He's a gamer, both IRL and online, so she was the one that made the mistake of starting a relationship that she believed would change.

Hmm the Telegraph says the same and that's considered to be fairly reliable normally:

Or the socalled "source close to the player" went to both tabloids, getting paid twice. Which is something I would be lying if I said I would never do, but there is more to the breakup than just a videogame. Videogame is just the buzzword right now to pull readers. Tabloids always have, and always will be the worst at twisting the news for sales.

Poor guy, well at least now he has more time for ze gaming :)
Yes. Obstacle removed. Watch his tennis ranking go down and his leaderboard ranking skyrocket.

Probably not.

Two quotes I feel are appropriate at this moment in time:

"Every woman gets into a relationship expecting her man to change, and he never does. Every man goes into a relationship expecting his woman not to change, but she invariably does.'

and

'Every woman becomes like her mother, that's her tragedy. No man does, and that's his.'

I wonder if he will help a fellow gamer get a better setup (and a girlfriend).
Maybe you could get that Kim Sears on the rebound
Nah, she apparently doesn't like gamers...and...well...is probably so far out of the league of the people on this forum, we can't even see her with a telescope.

Chances are, the relationship was going cold when he got MW2, and playing games was just the thing to point to. Interesting because it says it's games related, but really, this is just a pretty run of the mill break up.

Apparently, the £5 million mansion and celebrity lifestyle wasn't enough for Sears.

Apparently not.

Who wants to take bets that she'll come crawling back after she realizes everything she left behind? I'm totally generalizing here, I have no idea who this girl is or anything about her background, but she sounds fat. Yeah that's right, I said it...

I hear too many stories like this, and my advice to all the non-gamer girls out there? PICK UP A FUCKING CONTROLLER AND GIVE IT A SHOT. Men in this situation are always percieved as the ones at fault, when the real issue is a girlfriend who feels neglected and isn't willing to compromise. I don't know how many guys I know who have capitulated to their girlfriend's requests (read:DEMANDS) to go do stuff that girls like. (Ballroom dancing, flower arranging, whatever) But when it comes to guys and video games there seems to be no middle ground, its almost always the "either the games or ME" ultimatum, and that's complete bullshit. Did Ms. Sears even TRY to compromise? Nope, it seems she just bitched and bitched until it was over, and nobody wins.

Women like that aren't pissed off that their boyfriends are playing a video game, they're pissed off that they aren't paying attention to them 24/7. Its a sign of insecurity and immaturity. A mature woman would address the problem and try to find an amicable solution, whereas someone like Ms. Sears doesn't see it that way and reacts like a 12 year old.

Kind of like that idiot that smashed her boyfriend's XBox and posted it on break.com [http://www.break.com/usercontent/2009/11/crazy-hot-chick-smashes-boyfriends-xbox-1499788]

I'm sure Andy is just devastated about this situation and I think we should all give him our support. And by that I mean log on to the MW2 servers and help him frag some fuckers!

Well put, have you ever considered going into couple's counselling? Or I guess in this case it would be "Preemptive Couples Counselling" ;)

How can you possibly spend too much time in MW2 when the game is just a few hours long?

I was in a Wal-Mart once on some errand (this was a while back) and I saw a gentlement, must have been in his twenties come and check out the video game racks. I thought nothing of it until I saw a woman, also in her twenties come over, look at him and very bitchily say "Don't you have enough video games?" The guy had the biggest "oh god someone shoot me look" ever. I've never seen a more whipped looking man in my life. I just wanted to shout out "DUMP THE ***** AND BUY THE GAME!" as loud as I could, and in retrospect, I really should have.

Ladies, it's no secret when you're dating a gamer. If you try and get us to quit our hobby, it won't end well. I'm not sure why this chick thought that it'd go any other way. I highly doubt she was oblivious to his game playing habits when they got together.

Frags before hags. *brofist*

That is a really epic picture of the guy. You know what? That picture alone means that he is now my second-favourite male tennis player of all time. Go him!
