Ok so i made a post about my shitty internet yesterday, and i have found a good service for a good price, i am currently with sky and i want to change to Virgin

but i am confused, it says with the installation process they say they need to put a pencil thin cable underground in my front garden, but i was just thinking, is that if you have never had internet before and they need to connect you to the cables in the road?

becausee i currently already have broadband, surely they dont need to install cables and shit for me they can just change it and give me a new modem?

sorry if it is worded poorly but i dint really know how else to word it.

i am ringing them tomorrow, but i was just wondering if anyone here knew

You know who would probably be great at answering this question? Virgin! Why don't you give them a jingle and see what they say?

....Virgin use fiber optic cables wherever possible, looks like it's compatible with your region, grats.

I've got no qualms with sky at the moe, best provider i've had dealings with.

Hum, the cables run to the old internet provider so they could probably change the destination by cutting and reattaching the wires I guess. Depends on type of wiring and the local set-up. Go send an e-mail to the company. I'm sure they know more then we do.

are you being cereal right now?

Sky are fucking awful for me, during peak hours i get 0.06 down when im paying for the 20MB deal (i know its 'up to' 20MB) and i expect a drop during peak hours, but 0.06 is fucking unacceptable soldier

You should op for BT, they used to be terrible, but now they are rather good, and their speeds are some of the fastest in the UK.

Months ago my speed used to be 6 meg give or take, but now it's.

Yes, I'm using the same connection as well, and not a single fiber optic cable in sight.

Sky is primarily DSL, while Virgin is fiber-optic cable. Two different types of carrier. If you've never had cable at your house before, then Virgin will need to run one.

You do realize that just because your experience with an ISP is bad doesn't mean everyone else's is right? But anyway, yeah, what this guy said.
