99% of the time, problems mean repairs. Whatever the problem is, I recommend going to the XBox support page and just filing a repair request.

My xbox 360 is broken, i'm thinking about buying an xbox 360 elite, if i did, could i take all the data on my hardrive and put it on the elite's hardrive? Would i have to restart everything? The 360 elite im thinking about buying is 275$ (canadian), how much would it cost to ship my 360 to Microsoft if the warrenty has worn off?

Well unless you're getting the elite purely for the HDMI stuff, send your box in to Microsoft for repair/replacement. However, if you also want the huge drive, then you should just buy the Elite and start your games over.

You can get a hard drive transfer kit from Microsoft here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/datamigration.htm (Check the bottom for a link to the form.) You will need to provide serial numbers for BOTH Xboxes, though.

I have contaced xbox support to see how much it will cost and where to ship to. Or maybe, depending on results, I'll just buy a PS3. The point being, thanks for all your help everybody. I got it from here

If you have Xbox Live, you can recover your gamertag, but all that does is carry over your gamerscore and online stats. Your saved games and downloaded content are still on your hard drive, and you need a transfer cable for that. Did I mention the transfer kit is free if you send in that form?

However, downloadable content is attached to your gamertag, so I THINK you can just redownload everything for no fee. I THINK.

Funny! No it still happens constantly. I think it's best if you just think about it like a car. It's just its yearly maintenance.
