Cracked has good content, although the article in question was mediocre. It was alright and it was nice to see someone talking about bronies who wasn't insanely hostile towards them. Why people are so hostile against the Male MLP Fandom I'll never know.

Also Fluttershy is nothing compared to Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash is the best.

Bronies is a fandom I too, cannot stand. It's not that they like the show. I don't care less about what people like. It's how they go about justifying plastering it everywhere, like they're some bizarre kind of colourful horse-based revolutionaries. Look at us, we don't fit in with male gender stereotypes! We're rewriting the definition of manly!

Ugh. Every freakin' time. Look. It's a girl's show. If you want to watch it, go ahead and watch it. I'm not going to complain. However. Those avatars. Those gifs. You don't have them because you like them, you have them because they're My Little Pony. I personally don't like my avatar. I chose it because I had nothing else to choose from. I'd change it, but it's kind of associated with my name now, and I'd rather not confuse people. But I like Armoured Core. Kind of. I enjoyed the second game. Okay, back on track.

You don't like the show. You've become the show. While I think Trekkies take it a little bit too far sometimes, and I don't get their jokes, I can understand why you'd get into a franchise as big as that. THAT, at least, is the target audience. You guys are getting off over a story about FRIENDSHIP. I'm not sure how hard I have to hit these nails for you to understand. They are happy little horses who are struggling to understand friendship. This is morality for kids. You should not be entertained by this drivel. Good God.
Mm, I see where you're getting at but.. aren't you basing this info off like everyone else does on any other franchise? Like almost half the things you said, were based on COD fans, and the other stuff reminded me of 2.. no, three users that got tired of seeing Skyrim fans since they weren't all into it.

Most of the fans do not even brag or force their passion onto others about the show. It's only the few, very few... who go over the top. You know me, know that I am a Brony and yet I don't do anything to make you feel "Wow, this guy keeps pushing that MLP stuff on me. Not cool!" What I don't get about this website is that a lot of people state negative aspects about a subject when really it's not around enough to be brought up. Only when this thread comes up do people start saying such things because they're reminded.

If you dislike it, hate it.. I am fine with it. I don't blame you. It's not for everyone which I agree it really isn't. But, not liking it because you see people wearing Avatars and having GIFs about them? What about science fans who have SciFi Avatars? Or your Avatar that deals with Anime which most people can't stand them ether? By the way, to bring up a good point.. Lauren Faust got on the people saying it's a girls show only. Take a look:

So again, I am perfectly fine with you disliking the show but why come onto this Thread just to state how tired you are about the show itself? It's like if I went to a Skyrim thread and bashed the fans because I am merely tired of their passion over it when really it's just all in that forum, let alone we have a MLP Group that we don't spread the passion anywhere else. We're mature like that, but doesn't make you immature. Just giving you a heads up bro.
Ok go Lauren faust for stating the truth! Honesty i love the show (Rarity is the best pony naysayers) but do i care if other people like it or not, no, i just love watching the show and love the characters.

You thought you were safe from these topics now? You were mistaken. Some bronies just want to watch the world burn.

http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-4-most-unexpected-fan-bases-in-pop-culture/

Cracked.com released a recent article detailing "The 4 Most Unexpected Fan Bases in Pop Culture", and while I don't know anything about those other three entries, the article caught my attention with the first one...

Soren Bowie said:
"But when the show rebooted in 2010, it made a point of being everything previous iterations of the show lacked. Friendship Is Magic concentrated on character development, humor, conflict and, above all, providing lessons for girls on the complex nature of friendship. But all those elements accidentally perked the interest of another demographic entirely: young adult males."
I find this especially impressive considering I was catching up on my ponies just last night. Maybe if I had paid more attention to Pinkie Pie's twitching, I would've seen this article coming.

What's more eerie, is the quote they use under that picture of some grinning guy. Those picture quote-captions are something Cracked articles use frequently, but the quotes are always supposed to be hilarious and unrealistic. Yet, the truth is a lot of us would actually say something like that. I know I would. What does it say about us when an attempt at parodying our dialect is hardly a parody at all? I don't know. And I don't care. I'm still a "Fluttershy all the way."

I'm actually pretty relieved to read this entry, because it's evidence that bronies are far from gone and I was beginning to worry I jumped on the bandwagon way too late. But what do you think of it? Was it too hard on bronies, or was it just hilarious?
Note, this isn't the first time the series appeared on the site, it has been on several of the photoplasties, but never an article before. :D

The Morrissey bit surprised. I'm latinamerican but I've only ever heard "everyday is like sunday". I had never heard of this trend before. Also, the brony part is decent- it's not the usual crap about fetishes and pedophilia and whatnot.

If you don't have a problem with other people liking different things, then why does it simultaneously bother you so much?

And the reason bronies are always justifying their love of the show is that almost everyone who isn't a brony is constantly demonizing them (bestiality lovers, pedophiles).

Yes, the abomination Twilight. Not the cute pony. I love Twilight Sparkle!

When it comes to the bronies I can't help but to think of the old geometric rule: Every square is a rectangle but not every rectangle is a square.

Get what I'm saying?

No, no! That's not what I said! I have nothing against people liking the show. Yeah, I don't like it. I don't like Star Trek much either. Not only that, but Faust is telling me I'm backwards, sexist and outdated because I don't get all wet over little pink ponies? What manner of bollocks is this? I think you'll find, Faust, this opinion is not outdated, this opinion is perfectly freaking logical. Please don't tell me I'm the only guy who was brought up the old-fashioned, Scottish way? Disciplined by shoes, exercised by sibling warfare, all that stuff?

Aw, hell, I might even like the show if I watched it. God knows I've had worse. But once a freaking gain, it's not the SHOW that annoys me. It's the fans. Their lack of self awareness is actually ridiculous.

Au contraire. Sometimes you have to go back to basics to fix a friendship. I'll give you just one example - everybody has that one neighbor. That one neighbor your mom doesn't like and they're passive-aggressive to each other over some tiny stupid shit that happened five years ago, probably at a get-together, probably having to do with somebody's cooking. But do they kiss and make up? NO! They stay passive-aggressive for the rest of eternity because it's too much trouble to talk things over.
Never had that. But, to be fair, my mother was not the passive aggressive sort, and my dad's from Glasgow, so neighbours this far South tend not to start anything. And for me personally, I get on with all my neighbours. I can see your point, though.

However. Ponies don't have real problems.

The first quote of mine was a serious, verified opinion. The second quote was just me saying I don't like it, albeit in exaggerated, dramatic terms.

I don't demonise bronies. I don't think they want to have sex with the ponies, nor the girls watching the show. I just think they should shut up about it.

I love her. A a parent to a little Girl, I completely agree there's nothing out there, 'for Girls'. My Girl loves "Boys" shows, but She adores MLP (And so do I!) and it's about time there was something like this that is targeted for the Female side of children.

And who gives a shit is Adult Males andFemales like it? It's just a show, after all.

OP- I read this yesterday, I like the link they provided where Pinkie Pie mentioned Bronies!

Also, you can have Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash all the way.
Twas funny. And I'll keep on Team Fluttershy, thank you. Because she can stare down a cockatrice.

I like the part where they claim that they cant wait for us to figure out the appeal of females. I found my girlfriend via a pony chat room. My liking of an unconventional show lead me to finding love!

No thankfuly not. There are already to many notions that are largely generalised right? :p

On topic: I think the MLP series is fascinating. If you watch it with an grown ups mind there are alot of disturbing underlying notions. Just like with the Lion King for example.

That's some dark stuff there. Not that kids would ever know.

I like the show because it has good animations, is immensely positive and reminds me of those 90s shows such as The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory that I absolutely loved. It's a case of animation quality + good content + nostalgia, and I'm happy that I watch it.

I'm sorry, I was distracted by the desire to finish reading the Mistborn trilogy, and then I had a final exam to take, and then I was up for another five hours finishing Mistborn (I regret nothing), then an hour and a half of sleep, then another final, and finally I am here.

I think it's time to redefine brony. 'Male fans of MLP' is too broad.
No, it's not broad enough. The term applies to any fan outside the age demographic, male or female.

How are teen boys liking a little girl's show more expected than middle-aged women reading erotic novels? I saw #1 and though "ok, what else is new?"

Except "brony" is derived from "brother" which excluded girls outright. There is no special name for female fans of the show, because girls liking a girl show isn't considered weird.

I don't understand all the hate for MLP.

I mean, sure, it's not for everypony, but someponies like it, and there's no reason for others to put them down for it. Although I do agree that some ponies take it too far. XD
talking like that is the reason, now go sit in the corner till your ready to join the real world.
I see that the irony was either missed or ignored. It's a sad thing, really. You see, the "Although I do agree that some ponies take it too far." bit was supposed to be ironic because I was speaking like they do in the show, which most fans of the show don't do unless speaking amongst ourselves, because we realize that other people won't get it or be annoyed by it. I'm explaining this to you because you either purposely ignored it to be an ass, or just couldn't bother to think about what I wrote before being an ass.

That being said, you can keep your "real world," I want as little to do with it as possible, especially if it's filled with people like you.

*reads history books*

Yep, it is. Wow, people suck. I'll stick with the ponies. XD

I'm a bronie.

Watching the show push me off of a depression I had ( I lost my company and girlfriend around the same time, I went into withdrawal, and started spending too much time in /b/ ), I became more loving, more positive and around a better person.

I was from the first bronies form 4chan, and I focused in using the show to improve yourself as a person, I made challenges in ponychan, around 70 people participated in making their lives better (exercising, taking new classes and such).

I started dating I girl that i wasn't too sure about but I gave her a chance because she kind of looks like pinkie pie (in personality). I started my master degree in engineering, with a full scholarship (and they pay me to study). The girl turned out to be working as a model (I honestly don't see her as beautiful to be working in that, but heck, what I know about the fashion industry) and has a fairly amount of cash, but more importantly she adores me and I adore her; at the end of the year we're going to start living together.

I'm as happy as I can be, with a bright future ahead, I haven't interacted a lot with the bronies because a fast-paced life, but I sometimes see the chapters with my girlfriend.

So, yeah. People can hate and fear and mock bronies, a lot can call me liar telling me nothing is true (And they would be in their right to do so, it's pretty easy to brag about imaginary things in the internet), the lesson that all the bronies get is that it doesn't matter what people thinks of you if you're happy, and you are working the be better.
