To me its like a refreshing breath of fresh air in our society of overly sexualized themes and machismo violence.

Characters with diverse personalities, alright music, not bad animationn, and they don't overuse any jokes.

In other words, if you get over some corny parts of the show, you realize that's it's not half bad (although I still prefer the late 90's and early 20's shows)

It's is much better than the cartoons we see today.

Because every other damn thing that is aimed at my age and gender group is trying to be more and more grimdark and hard boiled and shit, sometimes you just want something that is honestly fun and light hearted and happy.

That's one of my reasons too. Sure, I love Adventure Time but the fact that a lot of it hints towards it being set after a massive nuclear apocalypse (loads of ruins, and quite a lot more) and all the characters just being horrific mutations from that just makes me a bit sad. There aren't no hints to anything really dark at all, it's just happy.

That's a cop-out and a bit of a pet peeve for me. The whole concept of not being able to explain what you like about something is completely ridiculous. You go on and manage to justify your own interest in the show, so doesn't this come off as...Well, wrong to you?

Not at all, otherwise I'd have to ask you to justify why you like certain animes, genres of movies or books or games, since we will have different opinions about things.
Why would someone prefer Starcraft II to Tales of Symphonia?
Why would someone be a fan of WoW but not of Modern Warfare Three?
Why would someone like The Dark Night and not Batman Forever?

This is a crap argument, you know why? Because it's entirely based off of pre judging people and assumptions. Think about it, if you hated gay people you would have a much more different view to someone who's fine with them (analogy). If a gay person mentioned that he was gay to the first guy, the first guy would think he's shoving it down his face and saying "I'M GAY I'M SO SPECIAL!", whereas the second guy would be fine with it. The point is, I've never seen a brony say they like MLP in a thread that wasn't asking them what shows they liked, and if you think that's them saying "I LIKE MLP I'M SO SPECIAL!" then I guess the fans of every show mentioned in those threads are like that.

Or maybe... just maybe... that if MLP didn't have the social stigma of being a girls show then things like Bronycon would be seen like any other nerdy convention.

After watching the first episode of MLP,I still don't know why people love it so much. I mean there is nothing wrong with it,is just i don't see why so many people like it,and before you say it's personal taste,please say why.

Example:My friend thinks halo is meh but doesn't understand why I like it,so I explain that I like the multiplayer and story of the series.

It comes down to 2 major things in my opinion.

1) Production values: Yea it may not be the most beautiful show in the world, but the quality it has in terms of animation and audio is very good, especially the voice actors who give very believable performances.

2) General appeal: As much as MLP is a kids show it's pretty easy for adults to enjoy watching it too. Like the Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, there are a lot of little hints and scenes that appeal to more older audiences (4eg The treasure hunter pony being a caricature of Indiana Jones, the whole Buffalo Aboriginals vs Pony Settlers situation etc.). That makes it equally for them to watch, so parents don't need to fake enjoying a kids show for their offspring and it can become a proper family experience. Ultimately the simple fact that a show ostensibly made for little girls can somehow also be enjoyed by full-adult men (effectively the opposite end of the demographic spectrum) is proof that someone at Hasbro Animation is doing their job very right.

I am totally with you. I have been dragged into watching at least 6 or 7 episodes now by persistent friends who swear up and down I will be addicted after brief exposure, and I honestly can't see the "turn the net inside-out with a billion memes" appeal at all. Sure, I admit the show is of good quality, but so are a lot of shows I have no interest in. There are a lot of good medical dramas on TV with good actors and huge budgets, but I have no interest in medical drama so I don't care to watch those. MLP's biggest selling point is the cuteness, and I just don't care about cute things; it's why Wall-E bored me to tears. I would rather watch things of high quality with themes I enjoy to, like Young Justice or The Legend of Korra.

There are other forums which are flooded with special bronies (this word I hate with a passion). These people are like the flamboyant gays, where the social stigma is receding, no one cares about if you like MLP anymore, therefore they have to exclaim their passion for MLP at most five seconds after you meet them.
