PC games only por favour? I don't own any consoles.
Try emulating the old original megaman for snes. They are crazy, in some point. But quick save kill the hardness, IMO. Maybe some Nippon Icchi game is what you want. Google them. They are funny, sometime serious, everytime diabolically hard, in some way or the other.

Has anyone said Battletoads yet? It would be easier to take over the world whilst threatening the world leaders with a frying pan.

EDIT: Sorry didn't see the last decade part.

How about Global Defence Force on the PS2

One, then TTFAF on Guitar Hero 3.

Your fingers will explode.
I remeber actually crying in happiness when I discovered you could skip it at the end of the campaign.

OT: Not brutal hard, but I have to mention Brutal Legend. What game is more brutal? None I say.

AVP 2010 has some really awesome stealth and trophy kills.

And for difficulty, Nuzlocke challange for pokemon.

Touhou Lunatic! You will not find a game more difficult than that. The only question is whether is the kind of "difficult" you like.
As vicious as that is? Objection and whatnot. Nethack and Stone Soup, as well as IWBTG are arguably harder.

Then there's ADOM [http://www.adom.de/adom/download.php3]. If you can stomach ASCII, play it, then (most likely - this is a prediction, not a suggestion) get over here and punch me in the face for subjecting you to it.

I Wanna Be The Guy seems to be the game you're after. It's a game designed with the sole purpose of fitting that description.

Yes, this level can be done.

Ogmo/Jumper is good too if you want a game that is actually FUN while still soul crushingly hard.

Demon's Soul's Hates you

no joke it HATES YOU and ME AND EVERYONE

Hard is what im getting across to you

Its REALLY HARD

this is why

If You die the Game gets Harder
if you die you lose your 'Soul's' there your currency
you can get the soul's back if you make it back to where you died, but die on your journey to your lost soul's and you lose them for good
You die and it cuts your Health Bar IN HALF and you still lose soul's
The Monster's do insane amount of damage
You don't have help? [if your not signed it]
Bosses are Hard
what else
oh yeah you Die and ALL the baddies re spawn
and on Halloween all the Monsters get EXTREMELY difficult

The First lvl took me 5 hours 1-1 it took me 5 hours
I wish I had a PS3.
Get one. Demon's Souls is worth it, plus there's a sequel coming soon.

You could also try jumping into Starcraft multiplayer, but that's just because the serious players are really good.

That sequel better come to WiiU.

I Wanna Be the Guy if you want an unfairly difficult game.

Devil May Cry 3/4 for a moderately difficult game (eventually made easy with enough skill)

Ninja Gaiden Xbox series for a moderately difficult game, though 2 dips into unfair territory when you go higher than normal.

Bullet Hell games start out easy to moderate, but can get really chaotic near the end.

"Final Fantasy II will do everything in its power to beat you down. And when I write "you," I am not referring to Frioniel's party. I am referring to you, the player. Final Fantasy II is a pair of simultaneous battles on two separate planes. The first is the fictional struggle of Frioniel and the rebel forces against the might of the Paramekian Empire. The second is the very real battle between you, the player, and Final Fantasy II, in which the game attempts to foil your efforts and demoralize you from ever playing again. As you try to beat Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy II tries to beat you."
"If your will somehow remains unbroken at this point and the game is still turned on, Final Fantasy II will begin administering electrical shocks through the controller."

Bayonetta on anything above the normal difficulty.
Hell, it's pretty hard on the normal difficulty.
Same with Ninja Gaiden games.
Super Meat Boy will also make you tear out your hair.
Demon's Souls is also hard, but not quite as hard as the ones I just mentioned.

Or you could just play StarCraft 2 on the ladder.
The better you get, you get better players thrown at you.
You'll always get a challenge, and no matter how good you get, there's always someone out there that can castrate you.
