Ah damn. I'd still like to get the game though, if only for the massive influence from heavy metal. I do love RTS games, will that make these simple, dumbed down sections better or worse lol?
Where to put it though? Their signpost is already jet black surrounded by lava and supporting horns.Doug said:Sadly, we'll never know. Oh well, what's done is done, but at least you can learn from what has happened to you.

It's loud, it's silly-looking, it's an RTS that tried to rip people off by looking for all the world like an action game in its marketing. Worst of all, it's got the world's unfunniest man performing the voice and (I assume) mo-cap for the lead character.
That said, I don't think I'd wish Activision on my worst enemy. They really are actively going for the title of "World's Most Evil Video Game Corporation". While there are reasons that I have often considered reactivating my WoW account and picking up a Guitar Hero game, I refuse to let my money fund these douchenozzles.
I already have. They don't even bring out good games anymore. COD sucked after COD2 and the only other game is Guitar Hero which is overpriced and has been milked way too much.geldonyetich said:Activation (or should I say Vivendi) is readily becoming the next EA with their tendency to acquire existing studios and run them into the ground. Pandemic Studios is gone. Cryptic Studios is probably next, thanks to being rushed to market. This Brutal Legend interference further encourages me to boycott the brand entirely.
PRetty much same here.Aurora219 said:Does sound like a bit of an excuse to me. But hey, I've not played the game, so I guess I'm in no position to judge. And I don't think I'm likely to be either.
That doesn't explain them actively blocking the release of the game via a different publisher or that they didn't inform Double Fine about the non release of the game. Those accusations are indefensibly evil and just plain dirty. The out of court settlement likely covered the legal fees only as EA/Double Fine needed to get back to work.ace_of_something said:Here's a thought.
Here's a thought.
Maybe, activision didn't want to release the game because they could tell it wasn't very good. Maybe we all fell for the hype machine and said 'no way could a publisher know such things'?
Wow, that's not just profit-minded, faceless corporation levels of evil; that's straight up, personal, there's-no-reason-to-do-this-other-than-the-fact-I'm-a-terrible-fucking-asshole evil. Sometimes I wonder what's up with these big companies; being heartless and only caring about money I can understand, but sometimes it's like they're just run by complete idiots with almost zero understanding of human beings.Greg Tito said:"We learned Activision was not going to be publishing Brutal Legend through an official press announcement issued by Activision that listed the games they would be shipping, ours conspicuously absent,"
Go play Nintey Nine Nights. Then go back to BL when you're bored in one hour. Do you really want Brutal Legend to be like THAT?!scnj said:Agreed. I didn't think the RTS sections were badly made or anything, I just didn't enjoy them as much as the rest of the game and felt they broke the flow of the game. The main problem I had was that the game was advertised as a free roam/hack and slash game, whereas I think they should have showcase the RTS bits from the beginning.Cantido said:Go play Nintey Nine Nights. It's an amazing Action/RTS, like Sacrifice. It's just people go "lol this game has RTS elements and therefore is a bad game run away!"
It has all the depth and strategy of an RTS game with all the intensity of a brawler, and it's so ridiculously simple that you don't need to micromanage, and you don't need a HUD. I have a 10 year old cousin who loves the stage battles and figured them out.
Play the multiplayer. TRY the multiplayer. It's amazing. Bunch of whiners, good lord.
This game is ahead of it's time and deserves much better. I hope with all the things they had to cut, that EA and DF consider a sequel, or "Brutal Legend Sigma."
