You conjured all of this up by yourself?
huh?
I'm wondering if this game is a homebrew that Dragonearl thought of on his own. If so, I'm quite impressed. It must have taken a lot of time.

EDIT: D'oh! I just realized I'm in the RP forum. No need to slap me, folks, I've got it covered!

Lol, I was wondering what you were on about. Most RP gm's do indeed put a lot of effort into their games!

They really do. Zemalac put so much effort into The Unknown it was scary. I know that this one was made by at least two people though, as the other one has PM'd me before about this RP. But even then, there has been a lot of work put into it.

Name: Niall "H" Forswoth
Age: 36
Appearance: Niall is 6 feet exactly with short cropped blonde and sparkiling blue eyeshe usally wears red being his favourite colour
Faction: Freelancer (more below)
Weapons: Demolition pack. Mike has been trained in controlled demolitions
Misc items: Miraculous Medal (Note Niall is not a religious man and is frankly bordering on the edge of atheism)
Position: Niall has been trained in the art of repair and construction
Bio: Niall was born to a middle class family on the Outer Rim and after leaving college with a masters in enginerring he spent several years working on ships mostly transports and only a few war vessel's when he was approached one day by a noble from the Core who agreed to pay him an iressistable amount to craft a vessel for him and his bethroed. Alas the noble was as decitful as he was rich and had Niall thrown off the planet upon the vessel's completion. Niall has never trusted anyone from the Core since and has detested the Traders labelling them as lapdogs. After years freelancing Niall found an oppourtuinity. A UPD ship was hiring and Niall figured that he could try to re-vitallise his realationship with the UPD and took a position on board the Argos as the ships engineer

"Come on Come on there's got to be someone out there".This damn radio might as well be broken. Niall's heart pounded inside his chest. He was letting his hysteria get the better of him. Ever since what happened on the Argos (which he still didn't understand) he regarded every shadow as his nemesis and in deep space that was a big problem.....

His only hope was that some nearby patrol or merchant vessel picked up his distress beacon, locate his escape pod and rescue him.....

[HEADING=1]Chapter 2.5: Operation Icarus
[/HEADING]

The Sakkara edged closer towards the sun. Through the view screen the crew could see the massive fiery ball of death taking up their entire field of vision and spewing out dangerous arcs of solar flares. The newly installed navigational shields began to glimmer in the visible spectrum as it was bombarded by radiation particles from the huge hydrogen star. Alexis leaned forward in his chair as Roach finally called out for the engines to cut out. Extra responded immediately as the roar of the engines died down.

"Engines report dead stop" Roach said. "Ship's in position Captain, all systems reporting as normal. Extraction crew awaiting your orders"

"Shields holding at full power, no sign of radiation on board" Issaria reported.

"Very good!" said Alexis getting up. "Open the cargo bay doors, tell the extraction team to move as fast at they can and to haul ass back" he said to Roach.

"Extraction team, cargo bay doors opening now. Standby!" , The pilot's voice rang thorough the intercom into the cargo hold.

Mike, Walter, Marcus and Jamie nodded at one another as a string of sirens began ringing out from the walls of the cargo deck. Flashing red lights indicated that the external airlock had opened and within seconds the internal airlock would follow suit. Seconds passed. The large doors began to tilt outwards, normally it would have formed a loading ramp but in space, it became a launching platform for the extraction team. As the doors began its gentle decent, the team moved forwards cautiously. The space outside was bathed in light and it was evident that the external temperature was equivalently extreme. Off into the distance and in line with the shadow of the Sakkara were four crates, each drifting several feet away from each other but holding a steady course towards the burning sun. Each had a flashing white light attached to it, a homing beacon. The signal that it was UPD property.

"There they are!" Walter called out spotting the crates. "One of them is the Basilisk".

Marcus turned to address the team, "Alright, me and Mike will be extraction team 1, we will jump out first and shepherd two crates that we think are big enough to be the Basilisk into the launching platform. Once we are back in you guys, extraction team 2, can jump out and bring in the remaining two crates. This way, our suits wont overheat and we can hopefully be guaranteed to have the Basilisk on board. Also, hold onto our tow ropes; these hazard suits were not designed with long lasting power units. If they conk out, we are in deep trouble, so we need someone to reel us in if the worst happens. Once its your turn we'll do the same" he gave the team a thumbs up sign and they all responded with nods.

"Ready?"

Walter and Jamie, secured the tow ropes to the internal cargo clasps with plenty of slack in the line. Marcus and Mike waited till Roach spoke again.

"Extraction team, you have clearance for space walk. Good luck!" Roach's voice crackled through the space suit headset.

Mike and Marcus pushed off into the void. Almost instantly the suit shielding began to glow as it deflected the oncoming particles from space and the temperature internally began to rise. The built in space thrusters kicked in a second later and propelled them towards their floating targets at speed. As the pair stabilized their trajectory and drew closer to the crates they noticed an alarming fact.

"Crap!" Mike's voice came through the intercom. "All these crates look alike, we can't tell which one is the transport. They don't even have any markings on it I can recognize, only numbers. Perhaps we should take them all"

"Not possible. That will slow us down and we have to hurry" Marcus spoke as he noticed the temperature gauge in his suit rise another notch. "Internal temperature is almost at 42 and we have only been out here for a few seconds. No way can we push all of these back to the ship. We can only take one each, it's your call, there are four numbers; 12, 36, 108 and 05. You pick one and I'll pick one and we'll push it back, but for gods sake, hurry up and decide"

Two minutes later...

"Captain, we are picking up a transmission" Issaria said suddenly.

Alexis spun around, "What?, where from?"

"It is a class 1 emergency life pod, UPD design. Registration number matches that of the Argos. Exactly 32 light seconds east of the extraction team" she said her voicing filling up with surprise.

"A survivor?" Roach echoed Alexis's own thoughts.

"Life signs?, whats the status of the pod?, can we hail it?" Alexis shot back.

"Communication negative, it's too far to pick up with all this solar interference" Roach replied back. "I detect a life sign though, someone is alive in there. Scanners indicate a damaged navigational computer and the engines are offline. Id say its a crippled pod caught in the suns gravity pull, miles away from where the Argos was last detected"

"We have to rescue the person" Issaria looked at the captain.

"Indeed, can the extraction team help the pod out?" Alexis queried.

"Not extraction team one, the pod is too far off from their safety zone. We can send in Walter and Jamie though, with a slight course adjustment from the ship they can get to the pod safely and tow it in to our cargo bay. It shouldn't make re-entry for team one any difficult either" Roach replied back.

"Make it happen!"

______________________________________

Alexis opened a communication channel with the extraction team.

"Extraction teams one and two, slight change of plans. We have picked up a survivor from the Argos in our scanner range, the pod is crippled and is on a collision course with the sun. So I am ordering extraction team two to go out ahead and tow the pod into the cargo bay.

This means three things for us:

1) Extraction team one, you can only bring in two crates. No pressure but I hope at least one of you makes the right choice.

2) Extraction team two, the emergency pod is 32 light seconds away from the Sakkara and it is actually drifting closer. If you can get to it soon enough you can use its inertia to guide it into our cargo bay. Roach has made a slight angle adjustment, so our shadow now covers the path to the pod; you should be out of direct sunlight long enough to make it there and back again safely.

3) This is going to extend our time near the sun and push our shields to its operational limit. I don't know how long its going to hold but the faster you can get this done the better it is for everyone concerned
"

Alexis paused for a second before continuing,

"Extraction team two, you are cleared for rescue mission. Good luck!"

"Extraction team two, you are cleared for rescue mission. Good luck!" Jamie heard over the intercom. The two of them could see the ship they were reffering to. It was a fairly small emergency pod with recognisable UPD aesthetics, the type of thing that they would've expected to see at a crash site.

Jamie glanced at Waltar, a glance of terror, as if he was afraid of the consequences. Jamie's breath was becoming a lot more steady as he tried to calm his nerves.

Well, here goes nothing.

He lept from the Sakkara and started to make his way towards this vessel. He reached to his chest to switch on his intercom.

"Captain, we are heading towards this ship in distress as we speak. Do we have any contact with the inhabitants?"

"Negative Jamie!" Alexis's voice came crackling through the speakers.

"Solar radiation is limiting our ship to ship communications, you guys have to try and raise communication from your suits. Over"

"Solar radiation is limiting our ship to ship communications, you guys have to try and raise communication from your suits. Over"

"What?" Jamie looked at the emergency capsule. He would need to make sontact with it himself. This could mean that they waste time outside in the heat.

Great. Just what we need.

He glanced at Walter again. This could easily go wrong. He would need to get closer before risking entering the ship. He switched his intercom on again. "Very well, we'll try to get closer to it."

He started to move towards the ship, whilst keeping his hand on the intercom all the time.

"UPD vessel, this is Jamie Delorum of The Sakkara. Please respond."

No respons. He moved more forward.

"UPD vessel, this is The Sakkara. We picked up your distress beacon. Please respond."

Still no response, as he moved forward even more.

"UPD vessel, this is The Sakkara. Please respond." He called moving further forward still, hoping for a response from the ship.
