It's been 21 years since the last entry in the series. Was there really anybody who wanted more? Was the ironic game done by Arcane Kids, Bubsy 3D: Bubsy Visits The James Turrell Retrospective, somehow mistaken for actual interest in the franchise? It's just mind boggling that this actually got greenlit. This is like making a sequel to The Ring: Terror's Realm. Not many people actually remember what it is, and those that do don't remember it fondly.

Wasn't this released sometime last year? Yeah it's still dumb that it was made, but the time to question it was last year. Now let's just forget about it and move on.

But I just saw it, and wanted to talk about it!

And it was only 3 months ago.

Yes please let's just move on to something else. Let's talk about why hasn't Ristar, Tin head or Aero the acrobat made a comeback.

But if you want my input I never liked nor care for Bubsy to begin with. The only reason he was brought back was to play up on the nostalgia alone. And that other properties were coming back like Rayman or Crash Bandicoot. Bubsy was just once again playing follow the leader. Overall the series has had three mediocre games and one that is really horrible. There, end of discussion

Was it? Well that still counts as last year. Regardless it's Bubsy. It's not worth any more attention than 5 minutes wondering why the fuck somebody would want to bring it back and then NOT playing the new festival of mediocrity.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
The main thing I remember about bubsy is that if you pressed lrabxy at the same time it would reset the game.

Please tell me you didn't actually buy that game.

Also this, Knack II and Bad Rats 2 are proof that publishers and developers are incapable of understanding sarcasm. Or fun.

As for the topic at hand, I only remember playing the first Bubsy game at a friend's house as a kid, and although I hear that later games were a bit on the shitty side, I don't see much harm in a developer trying to make some nostalgia bucks off of Bubsy. Who knows, the game might even be fun, in a rather mediocre way.

So that's it then?

The Nostalgia barrel has been scraped dry and publishers will have to resort to new IPs from now on?

I don't know, there are still plenty of 90's video game mascots with 'tude to dust off.

Gex, Croc, Jazz Jackrabbit, Zool, Aero the Acrobat, Radical Rex, Awesome Possum, Vectorman, Toejam & Earl, Rocky Rodent, Dynamite Headdy, Boogerman, Bonk, Havoc, Glover, the Battletoads, Alex Kidd, Cool Spot, Titus the Fox, Zero the Kamikaze Squirell, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger and Lester the Unlikely.

To be honest, I've only recently been aware of this...thing, and even with the anticipation of a low quality going in, it was impressively worse in ways I could not foresee. It's like someone's accountant dad made this trying to be funny and cool with the kiddos, with no self-awareness or understanding of humour, burrowing deeper into cringe territory with every second as the gnawing feeling that they need to quickly be put out of their misery grows so strong you scream unintelligible gargles from unbridled rage as you throw every solid object within grasp at their face and run from their twitching, blood-soaked corpse, crying with confused anger, despair, relief and lust

Possibly a mismatch between money to invest and good ideas regarding what to invest it in.

That is to say, whoever authorised this is out of touch.

Best part is they originally felt Bubsy was totally worth a $30 price tag.

30 bucks for 1 or 2 hours of thorougly mediocre platforming starring Bubsy, whose biggest merit is providing youtube reviewers something to mock and/or rage at.

I actually liked the original SNES game back in the 90's. In retrospect, I can see it's just terrible. Have no idea how I finished it back then but I honestly cant remember much of the game now. Never found Bubsy 2 (thankfully) and I missed the 3D game (another blessing by the looks of it).

At best, this game should appeal to me (someone actually able to remember it and got enjoyment from it) and yet, it is something I dont ever plan to play. Maybe if it goes free on Humble Bundle or something but otherwise, it'll not be in my library.

Well, if you get to play it, protip: Don't make this mistake...

By the way, it takes less than an hour to finish the game.
