Having been playing the (somewhat disappointing but still fun) Halo Wars recently, my brain has been in "resource mode". Today while at work, sweeping up some dead leaves from beneath the laburnum corridor, I noticed a whole bunch of ants crawling all over some of the seeds I had on my shovel, a nest was nearby. The part of my brain that is still playing Halo Wars kicked in kicked in and informed me that if I dumped these ants into the wheel barrow the nest would have to make some more ants, or send some of the nest builders out, to compensate for the losses.
Then it occured to me! Antwars! Or Waspwars. Or Beewars? Or Termitewars. An RTS based on insect societies. You gotta build and expand your nest, find food, defend your nest not just from other warring ant factions, but also from more generalized predators (massive beetles, spiders, etc). Anyone think this is a decent idea?
