Pre fan patch, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines.

There were bugs everywhere!

It's also one of my top 5 favourite games of all time.
I couldn't even finish the tutorial without the fan-made patch. Go figure. And even with the fan-made patch I'm now stuck in Chinatown as the game crashes each time I try to go to the Downtown area.

However, that was on my old computer. On my new one I keep getting the "Available memory less than 15MB!!! -1" error that seems to be unfixable.

It's a tie between that one and the PS3 version of Fallout: New Vegas for me. The game crashed every half hour or so, I had constant graphical bugs, AI bugs, the whole shabang. I really had to push myself to finish it. Then I got it on the PC, and much fun was had.

But at least I was able to finish it, unlike Vampire.

Two Worlds. That game was constantly crashing and lagging up. Random glitches showed up the whole time, and quite often when I fast traveled anywhere the screen would just turn pink and show nothing except the game code itself, or whatever the hell that random crap was. Everything in that game was so so broken.

That game makes Bethesda games look like flawless coding. And I've never had any significant problems with any Bethesda game I've ever played.

Dirt 2, and it's not even close. Weird graphical glitches, lockups, control issues, it had the lot.

It's a testament to how much I liked the game that I persisted despite the bugs.

I had a lot of issues with both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games in certain areas (rushed ending to the second game not even coming into it).

Same. I had my issue mainly with KOTORII. Sometimes the text would just speed past when someone is supposed to talk. After battle the main character, the Exile, would just freeze in place. You could counter that by turning on V-sync, but then when you used the super speed buff, your screen would turn insanely dark.

In KOTORI, one of my save file got corrupted but luckily auto-save was there. Waiting for party members was a pain. When another teammate had the Force jump (instantly jump to an enemy to attack), it would jump out of the map for some reason...

New Vegas had a pretty buggy release. It was unfortunate that a common bug happened about 12 minutes from the start of the game, but the most damaging was a save file corrupting bug. These got fixed, but their presence marred the image of what should have been a shining example of what a game could be.
Black Ops is next up. It didn't even have good story, innovation, or level design to save it from its awful bugs. Hitbox errors, AI breakdowns, and other catastrophes were all the norm during gameplay, both in single and multiplayer. But the worst of all was the mess of netcode for multiplayer. Games were dropped constantly, lobbies had the consistency of half-ply toilet paper, and zombies was like an experiment in inebriated programming. Top on all the poorly balanced gameplay and the overall lack of attention to detail and you have one of the most terrible games I have ever played. I swear, Superman 64 had better designers than Black Ops.

See, Skyrim isn't the only thing I'm disappointed by.

Battalion Wars, for the Gamecube. Farthest I've ever gotten was level 3 before it glitches out and dies. And it will most likely do it way before that.

have the 2nd one though, one fun war game.

New Vegas.

It was a good game, but buggier than a beetle. Every time I leveled up, the game wouldn't let me choose a perk.

It just felt like a giant middle-finger, like, "Hey, i herd u likd perks in Fallout 3, well, ur the only playr that doesn't gt thm!" *Cue Maniacal Laughter*

Was just thinking about how I've barely encountered any bugs in Skyrim, but some people wont stop going on about them. I didn't think it was that bad, but it got me wondering...

What is the buggiest game you've ever played? (if it was indeed playable)

I can think of a few:
Boiling point: Road to hell (still managed to really enjoy it though :) memories of flying hyenas and vanishing cars...)
Silent hunter 4 and
Vampire: The Masquerade ? Bloodlines (again, still got to the end and had a lot of fun despite the MANY flaws...)

what about you? any good/bad bug stories?
I am one of those Skyrim players who run into bugs... well, ran into bugs. I quit playing because of it.

I can deal with npc's floating 50'ft in the air. Makes good target practice. Dragons flying backwards in tight circles is amusing the first time you see it. But the constant crashing pissed me off. The decider tho for me to quit was when I had to go back to a location to retrieve an item. Stepped too far to the right and got sucked through a portal into an area you can't leave... and it autosaves right when I got there. I looked online and there is no way out... I will not be replaying 8 hours because the autosave feature F$%^ed me over.
Doesn't Skyrim keep multiple auto-saves? That was a big thing for it and Deus Ex: HR.

Why not load another autosave? I hardly think they are 8 hours apart. Because that would mean you would've ran around in the wilderness for 8 hours and never even opened your menu.

Might be different if your on a PS3 or PC tough, I don't know, but on the 360 there's at least 3 autosaves up all the time.

I've played a couple of games that are known for being buggy and have lucked out with not having encountered many bugs myself, so I'd have to say Star Wars the Force Unleashed is probably the buggiest game I recall playing. Screwed up my save file, had to start over several times due to a boss character falling through the environment or the game freezing. Sucks, cause I wanted to like the game, but it kept giving me reasons not to.

STALKER series but specifically Clear Sky. It's the only one of the series that I have never played to completion due to the bugs, infact I never even got more than 1/2 way through it before the CTD and BSoDs killed it for me. Sad thing is now that GSC is shutting their doors I may not even get to finish it without resorting to 3rd party patches to fix their DRM if they shut down their authentication servers (and I do own a physical copy of the game).

Anything from Bethesda comes a close second but nothing I ever got from them was as gamebreaking as the bugs in Clear Sky
Authentication will be fine. It's through SecuRom. It's shit, but works(?).

OT: Apart from floating things, I've had no problems with STALKER games. All wonderful games.

However, Minecraft is pretty damn buggy, but SO DAMN FUN!

Or Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, which is actually the best game ever made, ever. It's so compelling, and cinematic, and broken! Go find a copy of it.
