Hi guys!
I'm building a computer for the first time ever. Planning on purchasing in the next couple of weeks. I'm not totally concerned about cost but I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on stuff that isn't necessary and the more money I have left over at the end the better.

I've got a pretty novice understanding of components and have only just really started to research what I want. Please forgive me for any stupid/redundant questions.

My problem is that I'm in struggle town regarding motherboards. The P67 vs Z68 chipsets.

My understanding is that Z68 is the newer of the two and has additional features none of which seem particularly useful to me. I've heard of problems with both and I've seen recommendations for both. Since there's still a fairly decent price difference between the two I was hoping that someone had some strong opinions. I'd really appreciate it if you explain your reasoning since I'm mainly building a computer for the learning experience. If you have any mobo recommendations I'd love to know!

For some background, I mainly plan to use it for gaming. No plans to get into video editing or anything like that.

At this stage I'm thinking for the build:
 i5 2500k CPU
GTX570 for the video card (from eVGA?)
I also plan on using an SSD drive probably something like an OCZ Vertix 3.
Guess I'll just choose memory of the compatibility list (I'm thinking 8GB (2x4GB)?) and haven't even begun to look at cases or psu. I haven't got any immediate plans on overclocking but I'm not ruling out the possibility.

I'm looking for something fast but also reasonably quiet. Please feel free to offer advice in regards to this too.

If you know any good sites for researching that would be nice too!

Thanks in advance!!!

With Z68 you will get the onboard graphic and the ability to overclock the cpu, you will also get ssd caching [http://www.anandtech.com/show/4329/intel-z68-chipset-smart-response-technology-ssd-caching-review/2]

What I've heard the automatic switching to onboard graphic when you are just browsing works like shit.

So the only reason I would get a z68 mobo is for ssd caching.

P67 gives you the ability to overclock the cpu, but you looses the onboard graphic and ssd caching, it's cheaper then a z68 mobo tho. And there shouldn't be any problems anymore.

I personally likes chassis from Fractal designs & Lian li & Corsair.

I would get a psu with around 700-800w and 80+ certified (Corsair HX 850W 80+ is a great psu)

Are you planing to use two cards in sli or will you be satisfied with just one?
