Okay, here's the situation. I'm going to have to start bringing my laptop to college regularly. Problem with this is, my laptop is full of sensitive information... and porn. If anybody stole my laptop, they'd get pretty much all of my accounts, including this one. They'd also gain a lifetime supply of blackmail material from my unique fetishistic tastes in women. And a brand new car. Using an external hard drive for that stuff is not an option because it takes way too long to transfer all of that information back and forth.
So I have three options:
-Get a second laptop for college.
-Get a PC for home and bring my current laptop to college.
-Get a laptop from the college store.
I'm favoring what's behind door #2. The first option isn't bad either, but PCs are generally a bigger bang for your buck. The third option... are you mad? College stores are way overpriced. Absolutely no incentive to buy their coms. (And yet people do anyway. Whyyy!?)
I have a budget of $1000, but I can go a bit over. I also have absolutely no experience assembling a PC. So, that's where I need your help. I want the most badass PC possible. Something that'll run Skyrim on the highest settings and can handle a Starcraft II map made entirely of banelings. Something that could potentially emulate a Gamecube at better detail than an actual Gamecube can. Something that has its own sexy transformation sequence [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO7yKCnWnzY] every time it turns on.
I don't mind if I have to assemble it. I'm sure that's nothing I can't figure out. As long as it gives me maximum power for the money I can spend. (And doesn't run TOO hot. Because my bedroom is not that big.)
So, input anybody? Alternatively, you can also suggest an uber badass laptop that's capable of all of those things if you know of one that fits my budget.
