Bulletstorm: Fun or Not?

I've been seeing mixed reactions all over the escapist. I myself have not bought into the hype, but something to draw me away from the current Maplestory grind would be nice.

SO. Is it fun? Over the top is fun, creative guns are fun, but i need reassurance.

and a second question: Are the points actually Useful for anything?

Good anime right thar. Dude has gloves that function as a jetpack. Don't mind me blathering like an idiot, it's the fatigue. Night, Escapist. ^^

I've seen a lot of negative comments... but honestly... I don't get it.

Bulletstorm is nothing BUT mindless shooting and fun. It's ridiculous.. over the top.. and stupid. Why don't people like these types of shooters anymore?

The guns aren't really creative.. but the skillshots are where the creativity comes in... some people might find that tedious... but I find a challenge. Rather than siting behind a wall, shooting the same stupid terrorist behind another wall until I advance... I look upon a group of enemies and think "how best can I dispatch them and gain the most points?"

I'm only about 3 hours in... and the story is really "who gives a damn?" but that's the thing... did you care about Quake's story? Was it Painkiller's "epic" story that made it fun? Fuck no.... Bulletstorm has a lot of great moments, stupid dick-joke dialogue.. and mindless shoot-em up fun.

Bulletstorm is a gem among many recent Call of Duty clones. They don't make many shooters like this anymore... so savor it. Give it a shot.

Oh.. and I just noticed your second question... yes.. the more creative skillshots/points you get.. the more you have to spend on ammo and upgrades.

The same dozen or two skillshots don't get boring after an hour? I thought at first wow looks great, very creative idea, but then saw Cliffy doing the same ones over and over in the video and saw exactly where this game was going.
