It's meant to be a mockery of FPS games and how stupid they get; this game is purposefully designed to be stupid.Autohellion said:Ive seen a bunch of people on this board fired up about Bulletstorm and i honestly cant tell why. Can someone please explain why this Duke Nukem-esq foul mouthed shooter is getting so much hype? I usually like the games epic puts out but i don't get why shooting a random baddie in the ass 4598309 times and then listing to a 12 year old swear is so awesome.
Really you don't think you'll giggle in bulletstorm but you will in DNF? I know for one it'll be a long time before i stop finding the ability to shoot off a butt flap and fill the arse inside full of bullets funny. Where as hearing the same old Duke Voice quote the same old phrases he has been saying for decades will have a longer lasting comedic effect?endnuen said:I don't get Buletstorm either, I think it looks gimmicky and I think I will grow tired of it real fast..
DNF on the other hand I'm so psyched about, because, In a world of faceless gritty military shooters that all try to be all serious and 'realistic', I need Duke to come along with a shooter that focuses on having fun blowing pig-men up with rocket launchers or shattering enemies frozen solid by your freeze canon.
A game that makes you giggle when you play instead of cursing because you got killed for the 5. time by the enemies who spawns and shoots at you from all directions.
Nope, I don't think so. I see the gameplay footage and think: "Meh.. Is there a point to impaling these blokes on the giant cacti? and getting a score for it.." The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that to progress the game you'll need a score of x amount, and then it becomes a chore doing it.. And if not, then it's just a gimmick..TheComedown said:Really you don't think you'll giggle in bulletstorm but you will in DNF? I don't get how having score boards and such "gimmicks" will be any different from the ONE gimmick that duke has had since the beginning, that one gimmick that hasn't really changed much whatsoever since the start. At least Bulletstorm is putting something new on the table.endnuen said:Nope, I don't think so. I see the gameplay footage and think: "Meh.. And yes, I still chuckle at DN3D. Maybe I'm just a very simple man of simple needs.
Because it looks like it'll be fun a throwback to 90's action games, with different competitive modes, cool weapons, etc.Autohellion said:Ive seen a bunch of people on this board fired up about Bulletstorm and i honestly cant tell why. The difference is that if the scoreboard is a necessity to progress in the game, it will become tiresome having to rack up points. And if the points aren't needed for anything but showoff, then why implement the point system in the first place? It will just lead to spamming of a few of these 'skillshots' or w/e it is called.TheComedown said:I don't get how having score boards and such "gimmicks" will be any different from the ONE gimmick that duke has had since the beginning, that one gimmick that hasn't really changed much whatsoever since the start. Bulletstorm is not a competitive multiplayer game, it's co-op only. You don't have to hear any 12 year olds on it if you don't want to.Autohellion said:i don't get why shooting a random baddie in the ass 4598309 times and then listing to a 12 year old swear is so awesome.
That's kind of the joke. It's sending up macho shooters.TU4AR said:I reckon it looks shit.
So, not everyone.
But the fucking dialogue and the fucking voice acting, jesus christ. I'm staying away from it for just that.
Really? In a thread about Bulletstorm of all things?MichiganMuscle77 said:Modern Warfare can go fuck itself. That series needs to die forever. Call of Duty in general needs to die forever.
I highly doubt that the points would be required to progress through the game.endnuen said:The difference is that if the scoreboard is a necessity to progress in the game, it will become tiresome having to rack up points.
Didn't reach have some sort of scoring through the single player campaign? Whats it matter? LOADS of people out there love the old school idea of racking up high scores, is that so bad? It changes the game from just run around shoot dude, shoot dude, open door, to look around, whats the craziest/coolest/funniest way I can off this room full of baddies? Impale 2 guys on re-bars, blow another 3 to oblivion after throwing them into the air and shoot off the last guys arse before screaming obscenities at the squad mates. Then after all that you can see if your mates got through the section with better combos and crazier kills. And if the points aren't needed for anything but showoff, then why implement the point system in the first place? But each to his own, and I wont deny that if Bulletstorm gets a demo, I will want to try it out. I might get a happy surprise.
