Modern Warfare can go fuck itself. That series needs to die forever. Call of Duty in general needs to die forever.
Really? In a thread about Bulletstorm of all things?
Don't you know, Journey?

It's really cool now to hate on CoD. Even in threads about another FPS game.

I also find it odd how CoD, a game that's actually quite over-the-top and mental at times, isn't actually getting PRAISE from the Bulletstorm people. The paper-thin storylines mostly serve as a backdrop to let you do cool shit. Like outrun an avalanche and parachute down into the middle of a gunfight. Play on Regular or Recruit and you've got crazy-fun.

I don't particularly get the interest either.

Alright, I'd laugh at all the innuendo'd kill moves the first few times, and it's quite pretty, but ultimately it seems quite forgettable. Then again, I never looked at the Expendables line-up and thought it was "fucking awesome", so there you go. (I did, however, look at their matching black berets and uniforms and laugh my fucking arse off - I mean, are you kidding me?!)

Anyway, different strokes for different folks I guess.

Now?

I'd imagine it has been so since November 2009.

Call Of Duty IS the over-the-top and mental shooter. Yet one that gets hate for it being realistic and too serious and the story being too bad.

The story in Doom sucks, too, guys. The story in Bulletstorm will probably suck. That's not what you come to the games for?

Well, people play CoD campaigns not for the story, but for the gameplay and the setups. Not everyone playing the game is a "rightwing ultra-patriotic redneck conservative turned on by the American military fantasy".

Yeah. But now it's cool to do it ANYWHERE. You can hate it in a boat. You can hate it on a float. You can hate it in the rain. You can hate in on a train.

You can hate it in totally unrelated thread on another site about anime. (Saw that one a few days ago!)

Generally followed by quotes of agreement.

Totally unrelated, but your poetry is an inspiring piece of awesome and genious.

Also, really, anime threads and CoD hatred overlap?

I'd wager its a nice change from the usual shooters we normally have. Call of duty, The conduit, halo (all of them)) and just about any good shooter these days. The protagonist is often either silent, an "every man" or in the case of black ops, he's an Everyman with serious mental issues

Not saying the above are bad things, just the rude mouthed approach seems like a good change of pace for a bit

I like the look of bullet storm and the "kill with skill" thing, mixes things up a little.

Ive seen a bunch of people on this board fired up about Bulletstorm and i honestly cant tell why. Can someone please explain why this Duke Nukem-esq foul mouthed shooter is getting so much hype? I usually like the games epic puts out but i don't get why shooting a random baddie in the ass 4598309 times and then listing to a 12 year old swear is so awesome.
Because it isn't the same old Call of Duty/Halo crap that FPS games have turned in to. It is like how they used to be back when I was growing up (and judging by just how you worded your post, I'm thinking that was back before you were old enough to play games). It will be good to have a shooter that is actually FUN again. Plus I loved Painkiller (made by the same people) and NecroVisioN (made by some people from People Can Fly, and along the same lines with the kill combos).

Watch and learn:

Thanks Mercury i havent seen those before, most of my info came from their trailers and website. Its seems to actually have some semblance of a story compared to what all the adds show.

Did you not play Unreal Tournament? Another great game that Epic made? That game, though it tried to have a real story line in Unreal Tournament 3, is all about fast combat, sick weapons, and wicked maps. It doesn't try to have a deep story line, it's all about having fun. I'm all for it, I'm not losing my shit for it like some people are, but I'll defend it that it's supposed to just be for fun, and if you claim you usually like Epic games, then I'm not sure how you can forget about Unreal Tournament, their bread and butter.
Yes I Know those games had a BIG emphasis on multiplayer that this does not have.Thats one of my biggest worry's about this game it that the few tricks it has are going to be so overdone by the end, like the kick and the "get over here!" style blue grapple thingies.

Well, see, I have a theory about that. It's a little crazy, but stay with me. It's because....THEIR OPINIONS ARE DIFFERENT FROM YOURS.

It's strange, I know. It takes a while to get used to, but once you do, the internet makes a lot more sense.
Way to win the thread jackass award there donkey! Get it jackass=Donkey He-He!

Thank you all for your opinions, its given me some to think about. Thanks again!

Because it's loud, dumb, obnoxious, and FUN. It's stupid in a good way and is trying to remind people that FPS' used to have a certain spark in them that has been lost in recent years with the constant barrage of "realistic", "gritty", or what have you shooters.

This and Crysis 2 are the only two shooters that I am excited for because of how creative and original they feel. Both game emphasize some sort of creative aspect of the player and it gives the gameplay a lot of flavor that you just don't get in these samey shooters we have now.

Is the story going to be stupid? Yea, but I guarantee it's going to be the "so stupid it's awesome" instead of the "so stupid, this sucks" kind of way. It's just one big dumb action movie of a game and it's self awareness give it charm and doesn't make the player roll their eyes at any sort of attempt at being taken seriously.

It's going to be a roller coaster ride of awesome, but if you don't like the big, dumb, and loud type of shooters then you can just go play your Call of Duties or whatever.

Sure, it will be fun for the first couple hours, but I doubt it will last. Kick this guy! Laser whip that guy! Do both! Repeat. Should be a good rental.

There is'nt to many games that do this sort of thing,a layed back kill-a-thon. The sort of thing where you go FWOOOOAH when you get a kill.

Gamers had enough with childish propaganda shooters and the best way to rebel against this is to play childish pooping shooters.

I've been getting into a little bit of anime lately, and I decided to go away from the darker tones of Fullmetal Alchemist and Elfen Lied to something a bit more light-hearted. So what do I watch? The first two episodes of something I'd barely heard of called Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The show's as fucking crazy as its name. What's so fun about it, though, is how freaking crazy over the top looney it gets, and I've only seen the first two episodes just now.

Bulletstorm has the same idea. Fuck all this realism and shit, that's for wussies, it's time to just go guncrazy and do something way over-the-top with no restraints to realism or what-have-you. If you don't understand the appeal of this, then Bulletstorm is not for you. That's perfectly fine with me. Just realize that there's an appeal here that hasn't been filled by many games in recent years, save for maybe Borderlands.
You should watch Fooly Cooly it's even loonier than Gurren Lagann and there's only 6 episodes.

And yes, all around zaniness has been extremeley underrepresented in games lately.

This reminds me of Serious Sam, when I have a blast blasting numerous monsters and just have F**K YEAH! (can I say F word around here?) moments.

Hoping for both Bulletstorm and Duke Nukem to be epic.

*put 2 dollars into epic jar*

So i just played the demo, and for a game that supports 3D it sure is two dimensional (see what i did there?) I mean really?! is that it? gimmicky nostalgia with a novelty value of about 8 seconds, or as soon as you shoot someone in the nuts. I know i'm playing a demo but where is my game i could find more depth in a mcdonalds coloring book.

oh and does Hugh Jackman know they used his face for this game?
