So, I picked up a copy of Bulletstorm yesterday, and so far, I really enjoy it: despite all the negativity.

Anyway, I was wondering, what exactly was wrong with it?

I mean, sure, it's linear, and the voice acting itself is really bad, but some of the lines are still hilarious, and the gameplay is fun.

So, why did my fellow escapees not enjoy Bulletstorm (or if you enjoyed it, why?)?

I played through it once and traded it in, not because it was bad in any way but because it has very little replayability, I think. It's hella fun throughout, I don't really have any negative criticism for it. It's genuinely hilarious in places with really fun combat. It is a little easy, though. The length is perfect, I think but it just doesn't really have any reason to hang about. I've not had the urge to play it again since trading it in

The voice acting is supposed to be bad. The entire game is meant to be bad, it's a freakin' parody.

I also really rather enjoyed it. It did everything with a straight face, but was well aware of its own ridiculousness, and was actually a perfectly functional game that used its mechanics rather well.

As for the issues you had, it's linear because it's a linear shooter, so you can't really criticise that all that much because it was a design choice.
The voice acting I didn't have any problem with, but that's just me.

I enjoyed it, wish you could have done more with the lash than just pull straight towards you.

Too short & I personally woulda preferred if you could use all the guns rather than only two of them. Also the cover and shoot gameplay and regenerating health was a bit meh for me.

I had a blast with it, there's just one thing that annoyed me. Throughout most of the game, the story doesn't get in the way, it's just there as an excuse to rectally impale things, and the game isn't taking itself too seriously. This is all good. What's not good is when near the end it suddenly decides to serious the fuck up, which is pretty jarring considering the rest of the game is all shits and giggles. It's like someone completely forgot what he was doing and went back to writing Gritty Cinematic Realism Shooter #543 about 75% in.
And then, of course, there's the game's climactic battle at the end, which for some unholy reason is a QtE.

I also really enjoyed it, and I even found some replayibility in high score chasing, Although it could be due to my aspergers syndrome, which can mean you can do repetitive tasks without getting bored longer than most, but I should point out that what the leaflets on the subject and other such bs never seem to say is that symptoms can vary.
