At any rate, for all we know Bungee's big plan is to bank all their Halo swag, get someone to pay them a fortune to make another shooter which will "pwn Halo", and then release a game which is little more than a webcam porn movie with the Bungee design team lining up, spanking their monkeys, and blowing their loads on the screen (so it seemingly spreads accross the other side of the monitor) screaming "for the fans". Then they can fly off to their mansions in private jets claiming that it was final artistic liscence since it was a "Shooter" of a sort and "the best virtual Bukkake program ever invented".
Sounds hot.
I beg to differ.

I can't wait to see what Bungie does though. I'm just hoping they cover another genre and do something completely different from Halo, Oni, or Marathon.
Don't forget Myth, the Real Time Tactical game. (Sadly, that IP was sold off to Take2 along with Oni, in the Microsoft take-over/merger/whatever.)

Oh really? Wow I didn't know that. That kind of sucks...I always thought it'd be cool to see an Oni remake from bungie sometime in the future.

Does anyone else think it's weird that Bethesda makers of RPG's are the ones in the news discussing this and dropping small hints???

Also, did you consider that their "new game" MIGHT NOT BE on the 360?
well i think it might be a bit of a bad move for bungie to completely abandon the 360... i mean, most of bungies fans are 360 owners, and while that may just pretain to the Halo franchis, i think alot of halo fans would get bungies new game just because it has bungie's name on it. and as for going exclusively sony... something tells me that wont happen. Bungie may not have forgotten how sony showed them the door the first time around (though at the same time it might just stand to use the same reasoning for them going exclusively sony...)

I just hope they dont abandon us 360 owners.... that would suck.
and if they start with the ps3 theyll get every ps3 owner cause we love halo it rocks a$$ so anything w/ bungie we try and get for the cpu or actually buy a 360 just for halo so i hope the go with sony

I think it's about time for Bungie to wade the multi-platform waters. that way everyone is happy, and Bungie makes loads of cash.

Why are we hearing from Bethesda? Seems odd.
Sounds like there's going to a bidding war and bethesda might be trying to stake a claim, or wants support from the gaming community to secure their piece in bungie.

Of course it's all speculation.

EDIT: Maybe we might even be lucky enough to get a nice bungie-bethesda open-world shooter-rpg. In a Elder scrolls style world! I want bright worlds again! =D

EDIT 2:

After hearing this news, I can't help but give Bungie some props. Good for them, getting out of Microsoft's greedy hands so that they can try something new. That's what all developers SHOULD be doing.
They left Microsoft MONTHS ago. You're VERY late to the party, and all of the above are just as "greedy".

As long as it's on Xbox 360, I don't care. :p
Actually, I was referring to the TWO GAMES Bungie still owes Microsoft; I knew that they split up ages ago.

Also, did you consider that their "new game" MIGHT NOT BE on the 360?
That would be another Valve PS3 Move, without actual reasoning. Cross-platforming should be the norm, I hope.

I am curious and glad.
Curious as to what this new project is if very few developers have the resources to handle it.
and glad that there will be (as far as we can see) only 2 more Halo games.

Don't get me wrong. The halo series is pretty cool, with it having spawned books, a spinoff rts and helping machinima. But it needs closure.

aedrial, I'm hoping for a bungie-berthesda-DICE collaboration, for open-world shooter RPG with destructable enviroments.

and floodone, I can see the apeal of them going multiplatform, but if they do its going to be costly and they have little experiance with the other platforms. So if they do go multiplatform, they should only go if they're confident they won't **** up and make them look bad.

It is nice to know they will stop with Halo, even though I love the Halo games I want to see more innovation now. However, if they move to Sony I am going to be angrier than a rhino who just had a bad day at the office and found me in bed with his wife.

I know what the game is!

It's Whalo, the game about a Whale with superhuman abilities and powered armor who travels to an alien planetary superstructure and does battle with evil alien plankton!

What about Nintendo? They made enough money from the Wii to have every worker's posessions gold plated.

And it could be sony, after seeing what Halo did for the xbox, it wouldn't be far fetched that they would want their new title.

Plus, can't Bungie publish the title themselves? Hell, they made more money from Halo 3 than some publishers.

The only worry would have is if EA were to take on this project, because anything that isn't sports related tends to suck(most of the time). I would have no problem with any of the other studios publishing the game, except sony.

I'd be pure win if Bethesada brought it, I'd cry if Sony or Activision got it.

Also,I wonder if Steam could buy that...That would be also epic win, I'd love to see that. xD

Personally, I think too many are looking way too much into this as it's just someone like Bethesda who is throwing out a "what-if" scenario. I fully expect the next Bungie project to be published by Microsoft Studios. Afterall, it was the 360 fans that have supported their games from day one, where as other platforms didn't appreciate their work (aka PC).

If, for some out-of-the-blue reason that the next Bungie game is not published by Microsoft, it will at least come out on the 360 as that would be a braindead move on Bungie's behalf to ignore that fanbase.

The whole Sony involved is overall stupid. Would Sony love a Bungie game exclusive to PS3? Yes. Would it be a smart business decision on Bungie's behalf? No. Bungie making a PS3 exclusive is nothing more than a PS3 fanboy's wet dream. I have yet to see a PS3 exclusive that has come anywhere near Halo 3 numbers in sales.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what Bungie has up their sleeves with this new IP.
