Bungie might continue the Halo franchise?

Seriously though Halo's ok but it really should end in my opinion. It's already spawned way too many wannabees that try to copy it.
It wouldnt have ended anyway. Microsoft was going to take it over after Bungie stopped and we all know that it will NEVER end if microsoft starts making it. At least Bungie cares about their fans.

Oh hey look, people hating on Bungie for making a popular game.
*with expressed faux shock* No, I don't believe you that such a mature website like the Escapist would ever do that.

Earth to Escapist "running low on money" has anyone seen what Bungie employees look like, drive, and how they dress? If you have you'd understand they have the least corporate appearance ever.

I thought 343 Industries was handling Halo for now, after Bungie split from Microsoft. At least Frank O'Connor is on their team.

I'm sick of hearing people say they're milking the franchise, but you never hear, "Stop milking Mario!" or Call of Duty, (World of) Warcraft. Seriously, there are over 200 games Mario has appeared in. TWO HUNDRED. Master Chief has appeared in 3. Yeah, there are a few other halo games, (2) and this will be the third, and one of them was an RTS.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100024-25-World-of-Warcraft-Mount-Launches-on-Blizzard-Store MOAR MILK!!! MOAR MONEY!!!
are you serious? people moan about the milking of those franchises (especially Mario)all the time. on top of that halo isn't even that good... its not exactly bad and i guess it did pretty much create the template to most FPS that have came out since it (limiting the amount of guns you can carry, dedicated grenade button etc)i really is nothing special. all the characters are stupid and un-likable, its WAY to grenade happy, the multiplayer community are all rude and (this next part is opinion i guess) no connection to realism what so ever and therefore lacks immersion. i could understand them continuing if it were absolutely fantastic but it isn't. on top of that they pretty much ended the story at the end of halo 3 and there is only so many prequels they can make before it gets stupid... ODST it really when they reached that point for me... i mean... a halo game without any Spartans... why not just make something entirely different and create a new franchise to milk... i don't think bungee need to put the name halo in the title any more to sell games. all they need to do is make it well known that they made it and they also made halo and it will be in the best sellers list for long time

I keep hearing talk of a remake of Marathon.
Seeing as Marathon and Doom happened to be on every single computer in my school for some reason that isn't my doing I can honestly say I'd love to see Marathon get a fresh start.

I'm kind of getting tired of the whole "Hey, lets trash Halo because it's popular and then we'll seem cool because we dislike Halo" attitude. I'm not saying that anyone on this thread is doing that, but I am getting tired of people else where on the Internet gripping about the poor story and sameness of the past few games.

Most successful games have either or both of two things, great story or great game play. Halo's story telling isn't exactly Firefly or Stargate quality, but it's game play is rock solid. That's all that is needed to create a good game. Super Mario Bros. wasn't exactly telling a story that would have impressed J.R.R. Tolkien, but it was...wait for it...FUN TO PLAY.

Yeah, you might score some cheap "cool points" bashing the big mean franchise. I'm really into MMORPGs and sometimes I get frustrated by the fact that smaller games that I liked such as Asheron's Call and Dark Age of Camelot never got as popular as World of Warcraft, which I'm not a fan of. However, I can understand why World of Warcraft did better then those other games and accept those facts instead ranting about the negatives of WoW. If you want more people to play the games that you like, focus on the positive of YOUR games and not on the negative of the game(s) you are trying to get people away from, because it almost always sounds like an insult when you tell people the game they like is stupid.

Thats my 2 cents, anyway. I'd agree with others on here that a new IP from Bungie would be interesting.
yes I have finally found someone to say what I have been thinking all along thank you thank good sir.

Sure... Bungie pausing their cash-cow franchise for even a year? And maybe there won't be a MW3 :p

Not that I'm against new Halo games (although I stopped buying them after Halo 3), it's just obvious that Bungie is going to keep spewing them out.

It is hard to say. While Halo was a good three games, excluding Wars and ODST, unless they really start to focus on a prequel version of the game, they are pretty well screwed from creating anything really "new" for Halo. Unless Master Chief is going to become the Mario of Xbox, wherein he'll get a brother and a dinosaurish sidekick and be followed around by a rogue member of the Flood... and he'll have to go back in time, find his brother, or eventually turn to paper or go into the galaxy to wear new outfits.
Seriously... don't let this happen. Once the Halo live-action movie comes out, it might all but destroy any sense of credibility that Halo might still have.
Well he already has the arbiter for the sidekick, he's kind of like a dinosaur...

Maybe something for the kinect! :p

I agree though, I wouldn't want to see halo become the MS Mario. I don't really like it to begin with, but if overdone and it would just lose dignity.

As for a Halo 4: "Finish the fight... my a%$..."
