So I own a PS2, PS3, Xox360 and PC capable of playing any game currently on the market on ultimate settings (and those are just what's hooked up at the moment). I have the internet (obviously), I have a reasonably large collection of books, I have Netflicks.

But you know what, none of that has brought me any joy for a couple of months... I thought I was just saturated with stuff to do so I took some time off all of it.

Yesterday I started a new skyrim game, a game I have 2 60+ hour saves on, I didn't manage an hour before I was bored. I tried watching some of my favorite films, same result. I tried searching steam for something, anything to buy for entertainment and everything just came across as meh. I went back to the early zero punctuation and jimquisitions, I did watch about 10 of each and they passed the time but never really was I enjoying them in the moment, just passing the time. I can't get past page one of any book without feeling like I'm reading for the sake of reading not for joy.

Anyone any suggestions of a game/film/internet thing/book or anything that will seem a bit new and more importantly let me enjoy it in the moment instead of feeling like I'm going through the motions?

The suggestion that I have is one that I'll need to use an...uncommon example in order to convey why my suggestion is plausible.

Researchers discovered that men who were into pornography found it necessary to pursue more extreme types of pornography in order to develop the same degree of 'excitement' after a while: The stimulation they initially got wore away out of familiarity. It was only after a lack of exposure (or limited exposure) to pornography that the men in question became as stimulated to prior levels by simple pornography.

In other words basic stuff involving coupling, oral sex, etc stimulated men initially, but constant exposure required gang-bangs, etc to get them just as excited after a while.

But when they took a break from porn for a while the 'basic stuff' had the original high-stimulation effects.

My suggestion? Find something outside of your regular interests (computer chess, maybe) to give you time to get past being so jaded.

The thrill will return.

P.S. I've gone through phases where I stopped watching ZP, etc, because I was burned out.

Of course now I've discovered Stolen Pixels, Unforgotten Realms, I Hit It With My Axe, etc, so there's more material for me to look at that I haven't seen that will keep me interested.

EDIT: Try this thread I bookmarked for such lulls.

It's got lots of interesting web comics you can look up.

As Zen said, do something outside of your normal activities. I go through burn out phases a couple of times a year and I just do something that I normally don't to pass the time. Right now I'm in the middle of helping my parents remodel their place. They want to fix it up, and since I'm living here for the time being, I might as well do something productive.
