So, having just recently gotten my Burnout License in Paradise city (for PC), I thought I would get a little discussion going related to the game.

First question to everyone here: What were your thoughts on the game - specifically in relation to its deviation from the classical Burnout style of gameplay towards the free-roam style of Paradise City. For me, the biggest disappointment was the loss of crash junctions. While Showtime was still pretty fun, I still kinda miss the set-in-stone junctions that had a fun sense of trial and error for getting the best crash possible. That, and the old crash junctions made for fun multiplayer competition, something showtime only does through scores and not physical, devastatingly awesome crashes. Aside from that though, I enjoyed the free roam style of gameplay, made screwing around for no reason just that much more fun. That, plus Marked Man with friends in a LAN game, with the added bonus of Mugshots, made for quite the entertaining night.

Second question: Does ANYONE here have the Burnout Elite license?!! Hell of a hard thing to get if you ask me :p But I am very close now.

Guess I shouldn't have created this so late at night, heh. Small bump.

I do, but I haven't played it for a long time. It was a good game, with an awesome soundtrack.

I loved it. It's still my favorite racing game of all time. Still working hard to get my Elite.

I'll admit that Burnout Paradise isn't the best Burnout game, with the whole "Look at your map to get to the end!" thing and how repetitive the races can get because there's only 8 finish lines. However, it's still Burnout. It's still nitro-induced insanity that defines what arcade racing should be.

Absolutely hated hit. Loved every Burnout game since 2, but Paradise took the game and ruined it for me. I shouldn't have to concentrate on a mini map and miss half of what's going actually happening on the road. Horrible. I hope the next Burnout goes back to it's roots.

I played Burnout 2 to death so Paradise was a disappointment in that it was so very different from that. But I still thought it was good, probably because I did a lot of my original gametime with friends, just screwing around and doing marked man and such. Races are a bit of a pain but not as bad once you really get to know the city well. It still has that Burnout feel to it at least, with crashes always being entertaining.

I really liked it. Wasn't very good at it though, it took me ages to get the burnout license. Still cant do any of the stunt sections.

Isn't it true that the game doesn't block off roadways and you have to find your own way to the finish line? Doesn't sound fun having to pull up the map to make sure you aren't taking a wrong turn. I'm just wondering.
It flashes a basic route at the top for when to turn left or right, it's the route most of the AI takes.
Doesn't take long to learn the city though.
[hr]I love it on PC, got it on xmas for free. I really enjoy playing Marked Man online, but it's slightly hard to sort games for, can't just pick "marked man" from a server list and jump in.

Got about 100 races left for my elite. Enjoying my GT Flame as well. :D

I'd love to LAN but don't know anyone around here who has it at the moment, online will do me for now.

I do miss the crashes, and showtime seems boring to me, but I much prefer the free cityness. Love just messing about trying to find shortcuts and parking garages to jump off.

I just got halfway through for my Elite, long way to go with so many damn stunt runs getting harder as you progress. How close are you? And are you on PC?

I've completed everything in this game when it came out! Absolutely loved it! The hardest challenge to complete is the one where you need to get 20 burnout chains without crashing, took me forever!!

I liked 3 and 4 way more than Paradise. Something about the way the cars handled I think.

I have played that game so much... my thumb used to get numb from jamming it on the boost button.

And yes, I have my elite license.

The junctions were a loss though, I'll agree with that.

No, I bought it for 360, and I believe we are about the same progress-wise.

I didn't have a problem racing with the open world, so it was a great game for me. I only played it on the xbox though. I smashed all the signs mostly and ignored a lot of the races.

So many xbox players! Damn you all!

:p

Well if anyone does play it on PC, my account name is hader102. I have noticed there are very few people there, I actually seem to have almost half the road rules in the city, by accident...

It is a good game and it has an awesome soundtrack. I personally prefer Burnout 3 or revenge. They are just plain awesome. And well I did miss the crash junctions. Showtime was nothing compared to that.

I rented the game a couple years back. It was pretty fun for a while, but it became pretty bland and shallow after a bit.
