BURST
On April 6, 2019, the greatest calamity known to man struck the earth. This is its story.
The legendary scientist Dr. Richard Lier gave a speech about his new venture, the ?Burst? project. It was designed to genetically modify humanity to become a super race. It would unlock our full potential; making us as strong as machines, as smart as computers, enabling us to sprint around the earth without ever becoming tired. It would even save us from all known forms of disease. AIDS, Multiple Sclerosis, even Cancer- all destroyed and weeded out. He was received to thundering applause.
The Burst project has finally been completed, and is currently being tested. Promising results are being shown. The world marvels in glory as it is about to enter a new age of man.
Strange abnormalities are found within the Burst code. It is taken under extreme inspection. Strange homicides are reported. The ones found seem to be almost rabid. All of the murders are horrendous and all of the perpetrators have the Burst gene within them. Tests are being performed, but there is no conclusive evidence. Burst research is allowed to continue.
Burst goes airborne. It is spread all over the world, to combat disease of every kind and to bring man into the Golden Ages. People shout for joy, barely able to contain themselves. The partying is a global phenomenon, akin to New York on New Year?s Eve.
Many of the ones who came into contact with the Burst are sick within their beds. Extreme agony befalls them. Only a very few, less than .000001 percent of the world, is left untouched.
All of those afflicted by the Burst code suddenly rise as one, and get up. Surprised family members are quickly dismembered, then killed and eaten. Many plants and animals have been affected by the Burst as well, making them mean, killing machines. However, those who are brave and strong enough to defeat them are rewarded with food that has everything the body needs to stay healthy.
This is the story of the Burst code. A few months later, this broadcast was recorded and sent out on all radio frequencies.

Power: Kinesis. Damien is able to control any type of energy, manipulating it towards his ends.
Weapons: A home-made four barrel pistol, created using Aether, the strongest material known to man. Damien can use it to concentrate and direct his energy in a short burst. Damien also has claw-like gauntlets on his hands and spiked plate for his legs. The metal is also made of Aether, and extends from his hand to his shoulder and from his foot to his mid-thigh.

Appearance: Average height, tan skin, black hair with streaks of dark brown, brown eyes, has a grey shirt covered by a black jacket and wears blue pants with holes at the knee.
Burst Powers: Jace has the power to convert matter into energy with his legs and feet and store that energy inside of him so even though he uses a lot of energy to use this power the energy he regains almost fully replaces it(not fully though so he can run out of energy if he uses it to much). He also has the ability to run a bit faster than most humans.
Weapon: Two military knifes that his dad had, and a shotgun he stole.
Bio: Jace was delinquent before the burst appeared. He would trash stuff, steal things, and just generally go on a warpath to try and oppose the goverment. He thought Burst was a bad idea and hated the thought of the mutagen mutating him(he has problems with things happening inside of him that he doesn't want). When March 20th came around Jace was one of those left in bed, not from sickness though, but from extreme leg pain. Five days later he found that the pain had disappeared and that he felt stronger. Since then he has been practicing controling his power, running from mutants, and scavanging for food.
Notes: Jaces power seems to have made him a little more agressive and prone to violence. He has a older sister that goes by the Nom de guerre(French phrase meaning "name of war") Arcapeligo who was in the military, she up and disappeared a month before Burst was released. So as i was sayin', i crossed the seas to this land, Me Uncle settled me in and i got meself a job down in the iron works, i told him i was here for jobs the land promised, truth be told it was fer the salty lasses.."Huh?".. Women Boy!, Women!, I came her for the women!, Stay Sharp!.
Couple years passed and i found meself conscripted, forced to fight them...twas in the 60's.. "Vietcong?" Ye, Vietcong, after we sorted them lads out i thought'd be smooth sailing, with these mobile phones, pacemakers and the internet, all that new-fangled technology Gobshite. Then came the Burst, Ye know what that is? "Yeah?" Aye, course ye do, we celebrated, oh people were dancing in the street so they were, and look at us now, reduced to but a fraction what we once were, and here i am Ole' Dara, still beating strong.

Burst Powers: the ability to channel energy into every day objects so they don't break and so he can whack them against stuff really hard and cut stuff in half with apparently blunt objects as long as they aren't to thick. the longer i am in position of an object the stronger it becomes to a point.
Weapon: an electric base guitar but pretty much any object could be used.
Bio: pretty much your average guy on the outside goes to school, plays the bass, hangs out with friends. But his grip on reality was never the best we had an imaginary friend for quite a while longer than most kids and now that this shit has started happening it has come back. he was also kind of psychopath and when he say his younger brother murder his family he was pushed over the edge and will do whatever he believes is necessary.

Sun-bleached blonde tight curls fall a little past her shoulders framing her angular face. Warm hazel eyes rest above a sprinkle of freckles running across her nose giving her a pretty look but somewhat mundane. Most of the time she wears a simple jeans, black cowboy boots and a flannel or a t-shirt under a black leather bomber jacket. She always wears a silver cross that once was her mothers and hasn't taken it off since she received it for her 13th birthday.
Burst Powers: Lily gained the ability of invisibility for not only herself but also other objects she chooses to project it on.
Weapon: Recently she has turned to a small bowie knife she keeps in a small calf-sheath hidden under her jeans along with a large titanium baseball bat.
Bio: Lily was raised by her Aunt and Uncle on a small southern farm after her parents had passed away from a car crash when she was one. She was taught to care for the farm and all of its chores, which she spent most of her time on. Simple pleasures such as playing the guitar with her Uncle, whom she was close with, and riding her horse in her spare time kept her happy and content. She was just a good working daughter, who the small town she lived in, seemed to respect.
Then the Burst happened turning the town on its head and March 20th would forever be engraved in her mind. Both her Aunt and Uncle had fallen ill earlier in the week and she stayed home from school to care for them and the farm until they got better. She had gone to check on them early in the morning only to be attacked by her Aunt. By March 21st, she sat curled up in the corner of the farmhouse barn, bloodstains covering her body and dried tears on her cheeks. She had killed them both with a kitchen knife and a shaky hand. A week later, she was found by a small group of people that was making rounds through the town for survivors all the way from up North.
She had been residing with them ever since, helping them run the new small community of people as they moved quickly and inaccurately out West where it had been rumored of safety. This is where she discovered she had been mutated from the Burst. Hiding the fact, she had a power of invisibility from the rest of the group she became an active member. At night, when it was her time for rounds, she would practice "turning on and off" her new power. After hours of practice, she has now gotten to the point she can start to project the invisibility for a short period of time on small, close objects. She was just as shocked as the rest of the community to find that radio station broadcasting had made it to them from across the country, describing safety. The community leaders argued amongst themselves for a while before deciding that they would send one person to help recruit people back to the community. They needed more people; some of the community members had already started dying off from infections. Lily volunteered to go. She would head out to Yucca Mountain not for survival but for survivors.

Appearance: Charlie stands at just under 6 feet tall, and has a medium-to-light build. He has short brown hair and a short stubbly beard, with a small scar on his right cheek. He dresses in rather odd clothing, a white long sleeve shirt, black waistcoat, black dress pants and a black fedora. But his most notable feature is his mask. It appears to be some sort of variant of the Comedy/Drama motif, with the right side being the Comedy, and the left being Drama. He also never seems to take it off.
Burst Powers: Charlie has the ability to mimic anyone or anything perfectly, from speech patterns to subtle mannerisms. While this may not seem useful at first, it can be very helpful during swarm attacks from mutants. He can mimic the mutants, making himself appear to be one.
