Ok even when the above dicussion of the possibly thing/ invoke that happen before the clip was recorded (the whole "The driver had reported that he "was having trouble with a passenger"), you still DO NOT attacked the passager over it! I mean the normal scenerio if the passager is causing trouble in the bus is to tell that person to get off the bus.

it doesn't matter if the 'bus driver had trouble with a passenger' that's not a reasonable reaction.

Although that might be because I'm seeing it as a fat, straight, white American guy beating on a minority for asking a fucking question.
I do agree with your post, but I fail to understand where "fat" and "straight" factors into it, even ignoring how you would most likely know nothing about his sexual orientation. Completely unnecessary remarks without any relevance to the events.

OT: I think there is probably a bit more to it than "he just snapped" but that's as far as the evidence goes, so it's the only conclusion I can come to without more to go on. Fire the guy, slap a massive fine on him and be done with it.

OF COURSE the offender did this to the victim because he hated his race and sexual orientation, how can anybody not see that?

This is the Escapist after all, nothing gets discussed around here without race/gender/sex getting crow-barred into everything :D

Regardless of what happened before the video started, the guy deserves jail time. He assaulted a guy who was not threatening him in any way at the time and who made no attempt to fight back. End of story. I mean psychopaths like that shouldn't be allowed out in public. If somebody is harassing you then you CALL THE POLICE. You DO NOT BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM.

Well, I hope the bus driver enjoys the search for another job. People who can snap and inflict violence on those they're meant to be serving have no place in the public sector.
I like the idea that if it's in the private sector then it's perfectly fine. LOL.

Does the company get sued for hiring crazy people? Because I think they should.
Anyhow, I often come across grumpy people in japan, but never seen anyone this on edge.
So glad the busdriver didnt have a gun

I'm unclear on what the mitigating factors people could be claiming happened in the 'we don't know the whole story' side. What we know is there was an absolutely brutal assault, on camera, on a man who appears to be taking only protective measures as a defense. Let's suppose the passenger was verbally assailing the driver. So what? That's still assault and a pretty damn heinous one at that. The only scenarios I can even remotely give credit to would be if the part of the video that's missing is the victim threatening with a weapon or assaulting the driver first, something that seems unlikely based on the reaction of the victim (and I would think "Bus Driver Heroically Saves Self From Violent Attack" would probably be a much more interesting headline if arguing we're not being told something due to media-spin).

It seems people keep making assumptions before hand that there's more.
But the driver admits to him just asking questions. Even if he was being annoying, you don't repeatedly punch some one in the head then throw them out. Especially when it's your job to transport them, and he was making sure he was going to the right area.

Not quite. Emphasis mine.

The driver had reported that he "was having trouble with a passenger".
What trouble? We don't know since that's not part of the video.

Did the driver disobey the command? Yes. Did he go out of bounds by physically removing the passenger, rather than call authorities? Yes.
Was this as black and white as you originally said? No.
Fair enough. I meant "he went nutter butters" based on what the Supervisor said but you are correct that we don't know the trouble. I have absolutely no clue what the passenger could have done to deserve what happened and him not fighting back points to him being the victim but we can not with 100% certainty say that he was the victim. I think I could say with 98% certainty but I'll sit back and let the justice system take it from here.
HK-47: "Calculation: 98% probability that the african american meatbag is telling the truth, and was unjustly removed from the motor vehicle."

Me: "And the other 2%?"

HK-47: "Calculation: 2% probability that the african american meatbag is just looking for trouble and deserves to be blasted. Although that may be wishful thinking on my part."
hahaha that was great XD

OT: oh it makes me cringe that i live so close to lincoln and this happened..

granted, apparently he had had problems with that passenger before, but damn if that video doesn't put me in direct favor of the passenger, i don't think he did anything wrong and the bus driver definitely took that too far.

Wow. That guy must have a tiny dick or a massive crush on his sister. I'd quite like to seem him flogged through the streets. Although that might be because I'm seeing it as a fat, straight, white American guy beating on a minority for asking a fucking question. Who made no attempt to fight back I might add. He must have hit that guy like 15 times after he was trying to protect himself. Flog him. Humiliate him. What a prick.
sweet jesus buddy, my senses are telling me you have some issues there if you derived THAT from the video.

the bus driver was extremely out of line from what we can see, but i see no reason why race/nationality/size has anything to do with it.

I have a friend who drives a bus. In the four years he's been working, he's been robbed, he's had to deal with the most absurd situations regarding intoxicated passengers, and countless threats have been made against him.

Even if they haven't personally experienced any of this, I'm sure most bus (and taxi etc.) drivers have at least heard the stories. My guess is that in his anxiety the driver saw the victim's pestering as an assault/robbery waiting to happen, and chose to take initiative. Extraversion interpreted as hostility. At least it makes more sense than him just deciding to beat someone up for no reason. Besides, he would know that there's a camera to record the incident. How stupid would you have to be to do this on camera if you didn't believe you were in the right?

Since literally all I know about this particular incident is what I saw in a 90-second clip, I'd rather assume the driver was just paranoid, instead of some raging, racist asshole. His motivation doesn't make much of a difference for the victim, but it does mean that the man just might not deserve to be branded as the dregs of humanity by this angry internet mob.

OT: There really isn't a justifiable situation in which the bus driver's actions were acceptable, so yeah.

That video is almost as bad as the comment section below it (in Youtube). Immediately people make it a racist thing by saying it's white on black violence, and then you have the usual neo-nazi vs fully-formed adult human argument.

Even without the beginning of the video, you heard the bus driver say he was tired of his questions, and if that's all it takes to warrant assault, then I'd have a few scores to settle myself, but I don't, because that's messed up.

Well, even though the driver started getting aggressive beforehand, the actual violence didn't start until after the passenger started arguing with him about the command to get off the bus, so he may have viewed it as the only way to get the guy off. That still doesn't explain exactly why he got aggressive in the first place (too many questions? that's hardly a good reason). It also doesn't justify the violence, as there are far better ways to deal with a difficult customer that doesn't leave when you tell them to (calling the cops always seems good enough where I work). Sure, the guy may have been annoying, but there plenty of people (especially in retail) dealing with annoying customers every day that don't resort to verbal and physical attacks against the customer.
