far too generous snip
There is something wrong with your inner humanity when you've fueled your cynicism to the point where you're taking a fat shit on donations. Whats next? Picketing Salvation Army bell ringers because they're panhandling? I mean, really? I just can't understand people who live in a capitalist environment (or especially a capitalist country) who can sit there and poo poo the engine that feeds them.

If you're so fed up with the way 'big business' is run, do yourself the favor of unplugging and going out to live like a mountain man, or an amish: self sufficient, entirely self maintained and powered. Because otherwise, you sitting there, demanding pay for services rendered at your job, have honestly no right to shit storm blizzard, especially not for a charity offer that is 100% funds GIVEN.

Also: What is the dig about blizzcon about? If you don't want to spend 40 bucks, don't. It's all fucking youtubed later on for people too cheap to pay to go/watch (like me!).
You know what its the same story over and over, i know you wouldn't donate if they didnt give you a pet to feel special so go ahead and buy it, im not saying dont, just remember they're not giving a penny of their own money, only the maybe $150 it took to pay the boy that made that model/texture

And i also read somewhere that socialist ideas are the ones that helped us to live in better heath and wealth then the rest of the world but you can go ahead and wish for the free market kinda like the one they have in third world country's no fixed minimum in come, no trains or buses, No schooling.

Again Go and buy it.

Great, so go yell at Valve for donating money from TF2 hats. Or PopCap for make a wish [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109680-PopCap-Makes-Sick-9-Year-Olds-Dream-Game-a-Reality].

It's blatant hypocrisy and nothing else.
Valve did it better then Blizzard. They did this in March not May, the same month the tragic event happened. They gave their players several choices not a single minimum payment option. And lastly they placed an acknowledgement and a link for folks who prefer to donate directly to the American Red Cross in their blog post. Yes Blizzard did put a link to American Red Cross but it was implied rather then explicit, but I will give Blizzard that point.

It's these little things like that which trip my 'wth' sense. It also didn't help that I keep hearing about corporation like Goldman Sachs getting away with blatant lying and manipulation to achieve their success. Again I apologize for that, I should have blasted GS not Blizzard for it. It is my firm belief that if your going to donate money for disaster relief or any charity for that matter, you do it directly and more then a minimum amount. There are good people in corporations just as there are bad ones, but I cannot put my faith or complete trust in 'for profit' companies. To paraphrase John Philpot Curran: "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance."

As for the other two latter events, those were charity I cannot and will not deny that.

Deleting. Why? Because arguing at this point isn't going to change anything.

Go donate, people. A dollar, 10, whatever. It's the thought that counts, especially in this day and age.

Already bought mine. It makes adorable chirping sounds!

And I like the idea that the gift is from the Cenarion Circle, as a reward for 'helping to rebuild the world'. Tying in an in-game cause with the Real World situation at hand kinda made me smile.

Good on you, Blizzard. Haters to the left~

You are a sad, angry little person aren't you. So much doomsday blathering. It's kind of sad. That's not an attack.. it's an observation. Please don't sit there and try to conspiracy theory your way out of silly statements made in a thread about DONATING.

As for who I donated to? Would it matter? Would it matter if I had bought a pet through blizz, an article of clothing through valve, gone straight to the Redcross (which benefits just as much from direct donations as a corporation.. they still pay people.. derp), or taken my ass to japan and helped directly that way?

Helping is helping. Shame on you for condemning ANYONE for trying. Please take your fringe-element socialism fear somewhere else. It's inappropriate for this forum.

I understand that we are trained animals and saying donation will mean that it is 100% good, and i agree, Blizzard is using their power to make their dimwitted player base care for a change, good for them, what my issue is, blizzard is not giving anything they are only taking from the player base and making it seam as if they are a generous company, As for the statment that i am a sad little person, maybe i am maybe in not i cannot see myself and honestly judge myself.

As you said that red cross needs to pay people also this is true and its true that the leader's make millions, But blizzard is the biggest PC developer if not the biggest game company in the world yet they are too greedy to donate anything other then what the people give, i find that to be just a tax scheme

And dont get me wrong i am not saying dont buy this, if your only going to give if you get items in exchange go ahead more power to you.

This is my last post on this thread, it looks like im being painted as a monster who cares about weather or not company's get tax breaks over the fact of money going to japan.

Free publicity for Blizzard, money for Japan, temporary burst of self-worth for players. EVERYONE WINS!
