Well, Arkham City a little due to the DRM, but it's a good game so I don't really care.
I didn't buy Arkham City specifically because they touted the Hell out of playing as Catwoman but then a week before launch they revealed that you can only be Catwoman if you buy new and enter a little code online. Since I can't get online with my 360 I kind of felt a bit lied to and am still wary about picking up the GotY edition...

---

This isn't exactly recent but my PS3 on the whole. At this point I'm using it as a blu-ray player exclusively but when I was using it as a gaming platform there wasn't a single game that I played on it that I wanted to play long-term. I beat God of War 3 after having rented it, I couldn't get into 3D Dot Heroes, I couldn't stick with Modnation Racers, I couldn't stick with LBP after the story mode and, I never cared for Uncharted to begin with. Also couldn't get into GTA4 or any of the FPS games on the PS3 seemed unintuitive and annoying because of the large, marshmallow-like shoulder buttons on the PS3 controller. The only actual game-game I still have for my PS3 is Trinity Universe which has the slowest, most boring opening 2-hours to any other JRPG I've ever experienced. This was back in 2009/2010 by the way: I got a new X360 around 2010, my first having died on me in 2008/2009.

Demon's Souls, everyone seemed to go on about how it was "old-school" difficulty, but i wasn't expecting the combat to be completely broken. Difficulty aside, i felt it was just a badly made game

Soul Calibur V, I thought I would enjoy it as much as the other ones just to find out they overhauled the combat and stripped away all the extra features to make it geared toward the tournament scene.

Bought L.A Noire Complete Edition a while back. It was a decent game, but I wish I had spent the money on Dragons Dogma instead. LA Noire is too slowly paced for me.
Didn't last that long either.

Recently I had some buyer's remorse from purchasing Skate 3 for $20. The reason isn't the money; it's just the game is a lot harder to control on a PS3 controller. I used to play the game a ton on my brother's 360, and now that I have my own console, I picked it up on the PS3. Man, it's so much harder to do certain flip tricks than it was on the 360. I highly prefer the 360 controllers' small, tight and responsive joysticks. It feels like I have to move the joysticks twice as far to get the same effect on the PS3. Maybe the PS3's have a higher deadzone? Or my controller is just slightly broken...

Oddly, I also recently bought a $400 TV and have felt zero buyer's remorse. The Steam sale didn't give me any grief either. Except for the 50 cent Shark Gun I got for Saint's Row 3. Like all the novelty weapons, it gets old fast and needs more ammo. But feeling guilty about 50 cents is really hard.

Demigods - uggh... It's a HoN-clone that costs money. Graphics are neat, but... again, HoN clone. Costs money. SOMEONE GONE BUGGERED UP HERE (besides me, of course).
I know this doesn't really matter but Demigod did come out about a year before Heroes of Newerth did. So, they're both just DotA-likes. Plus, I think Demigod plays differently, and you can do unique things in it like upgrade your creeps instead of buying items. Note: I don't like Demigod... or HoN, well HoN's ok but I prefer DotA 2 and LoL. This useless information has been brought to you by fuzzy logic. Goodbye.

DC Universe Online! Not that its a bad game I'm actually enjoying it. It's definately worth the money! But its the fact that its eating away at my free time & stopping me from enjoying the games I did actually buy in the sale such as Left 4 Dead 2 & Empire: Total War!

So, especially with the steam sale ending today, we all have bought games we wish we didn't. What is your biggest case of buyer's remorse recently?

For me, recently I bought X3, and it is just so obtuse that I couldn't get into it. I never got past the tutorial
X3 is fantastic.
The learning curve is steep as hell, but it's worth enduring.

As for me, I didn't buy anything I regretted.
I tend to make sure I really want games I buy rather than obeying my impulses.
After all, even a 75% price reduction isn't worth it if you don't enjoy the game, or if you never play it at all.
I learned my lesson back in the day when I bought Invisible War.
A sad day in the history of me.

I recently bought ARMA 2 during the sale. I usually like hyper realistic games, but the controls and user interface are so god damn horrible that it kind of ruins the experience for me. Plus, the game keeps crashing and suffering from loading screen freezes along with numerous annoying bugs from clipping to my A.I teammates refusing to do anything. No thanks. SWAT 4 is a much better game with less bugs, better controls, a better user interface, better A.I and all the realism.
Tip: You don't buy ARMA II to play ARMA II.
Exactly, you buy ARMA II to play the even worse, even buggier troll-fest that is Day Z.
Or play user made missions with friends, pretty much all I've used Arma II for, and have had a lot of fun with it.

X3 has a learning curve that can be equated to a vertical wall covered in spikes. The first 10-15 hours were pure hell for me, but after that....well ive sunk over 500 hours into the game so far. Also the community is pretty helpful on the egosoft forums (i even got into a huge fight with one of the devs in that game in the forum. No name calling and no ban hammers)

hmm, two worlds 2 for 25 dollars
Diablo 3 for full price.

I tend to be good with my purchases, and only get any case of buyers remorse once in a VERY long wile.

That being said....3rd Birthday would be my most recent (so about a year ago).

I was apprehensive about this game but still got it in hopes it would be decent. Gameplay wise, it was...but the story....oh god. Way to fucking bring back Parasite Eve from the dead, only to shoot it in the fucking face Square Enix. Totally raped Parasite Eve and Aya Brea, with a story that was so stupid, convoluted, and shored little to no worthwhile continuity with PE.

Hell you think ME3s ending was bad? Fuck you, 3rd Birthday trumps it in spades!
What are you talking about? Third Birthday was the best $10 DLC skin I ever bought (and only one ever unless you count ones in bundles). Lightning looks totally hot in those jeans.

Demon's Souls was a terrible, terrible waste of my money, and I'm still trying to understand why anybody thinks that it's a good idea to NOT ONLY create a game where you have to spend half an hour playing it before you reach a checkpoint, you also have absolutely no method of pausing the game at any time. Both of these elements by themselves should have made the game impossible to enjoy, but combined they absolutely cripple it.

I bought Europa Universalis III and while I'm sure it's a good game, I couldn't really get into it...also, KOTOR. I could not get it to actually run on my computer.

I thought Demon's Souls was hard but fair. You die a lot but your never set back so far that you feel like you've lost much of anything and besides most levels have shortcuts so you don't have to slog through huge portions of the level to get back to where you died. The inability to pause the came and the way the levels worked were well publicized at the time so you have no one to blame but yourself.

The only buyers remorse I have from the summer sale is Hydrophobia but it's hard to feel remorse for $1.24 (I think that's what it cost). I thought it would work better on my computer than it actually does.

Hey last I checked remorse has no monetary value. It is only a feeling. Like I have remorse on Section 8: Prejudice cause I feel cheated from a good game due to not wanting to waive my rights cause of Microsoft's Terms of Service.
If it helps you any, No court in the US actually acknowledges those ToS. I can't remember the last time any company actually brought those up in court and had them stick. For all the Legalese in them, they hold about as much weight as a couple of little kids saying they're married.

"Aww, isn't that cute, they think they're married!"

"Aww, isn't that cute, they think that document means something!"

I do regret picking up DJ hero 2 party bundle and DJ hero 1 for ps3. I admit I got a pretty good deal ($50 for it all, new), but I have only played it once, despite the reviews I had read, it just wasn't very fun for me.

So far MAYBE Witcher and Witcher two. My brother was really interested in it, so I got him Witcher two, seeing as how it was really cheap and fresh in my mind. Sadly, I didn't think about what computer he would try and run it on. His laptop may run his WoW perfectly fine, but he cant even get through the load screens in Witcher really, or cut scenes, let alone play it well. Should have stopped and thought about that first.

I may give it a try, but not being a big PC gamer my only computer is a laptop too, and probably not THAT much better.

Off topic: As I've said, I'm really not a pc gamer, and only got steam after buying a humble bundle, and getting the keys. This being my first sale I was blown away, and get what everyone's always going on about with them. Is the "holiday sale" comparable? better? worse?
