Hello everyone,

I've finally decided to get into properly recording gaming footage across my PC and Xbox 360 and have opted to try and get a good desktop microphone.

I would use my headset but for whatever reason it hardly picks up my voice outside of me playing an online game (on PC) and if I do record the mic input of myself during a game, it's horribly quiet despite me sounding perfectly fine in game.

So if anyone has any good recommendations, please post them here and I'll take a look!

Note: I'm from the UK so posts from Amazon UK or similar would be best, as I'd rather not pay a fortune for overseas shipping ;)

I just recently bought this microphone: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Microphones-Snowball-Versatile-Microphone/dp/B006DIA77E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345234189&sr=8-1

I personally use it for recording music and skyping with friends. It's a little pricey, but to be honest, it is the third mic I have bought in the past 2 months. The first two were a Logitech and Dynex, respectively. I spent ~$50.00 USD on them combined, and the quality was piss-poor on both of them, either speaking or recording music. (The Dynex actually just randomly upped and stopped working altogether after about 3 weeks.)

As far as the mic itself, it has been great for me so far. It's a condenser microphone with 3 different settings, voice comes through clear with minimal buzz on all 3 channels.

Hope this helps!
